Description Where there's a light, there is a darkness

Full title:

For Tazsaints
Anthro robot challenge

[link]
(stupid title limit)

Well, this was nothing more than a challenge to colour the lineart she made.
So yes. Lineart was by colouring by me.

Though I finally cracked today (1 day before second contact.... with the bio paper A ) and I decided to scrape together whatever time I had between studying to get this thing done before It drove me mad.

So I did.

Technique used was the triple-soft shading..... my comic shading technique.

Then added experimental metal-shading techs (derived from the Reaper Absol) as well as experimental highlighting.
And sponging techs...... for metallic look.

And glowy green thingies...... @___@ Ooooooo glowy green thingies..........
(those were inspired from da necron boyz of warhammer 40K )

So yes admittedly used this as more practice for future comics.

BG was rather uninspired.

Originally wanted to make it look rusty Kinda like what I did with the old orky wallpaper of mine (see [link] ) but decided that this gritty-rusty look won't fit the robot well (in her comic)
lol

Well, the mech is by

Though I can't exactly remember why I was supposed to colour this thing anymore..... Hmmmm odd...... Memory lapse I think.... must be the exam season..... -__-
Help here is appreciated....

May dedicate to me scraps later..... unless there's violent objections......

Thanks. Most effects were experimental, so I still got some distance to go.

Bai bai bai bai bai bai bai... >_<

Anyways, it's very reptilian in looks, due to the green-ish color scheme... O_O

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Snowfyre In reply to Poila-Invictiwerks [2007-06-12 11:04:47 +0000 UTC]

Cause it's part of a colouring contest (see descript for details)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Poila-Invictiwerks In reply to Snowfyre [2007-06-12 12:04:19 +0000 UTC]

I know, but it doesn't need to be reptilian in color, but that's your choice... lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Snowfyre In reply to Poila-Invictiwerks [2007-06-12 13:44:07 +0000 UTC]

That partly was..... also partly cause metal-anthros tend to look like their real ones.... so chose that as my colour scheme.

tazsaints [2007-06-12 04:37:11 +0000 UTC]

WOOOOOWW!!!

I love this one too! (But then, I'm really loving every one of these I see! )

Firstly, I don't mind that you used it as practise. Not at all. It's sometimes to have a thing just to colour, and not worry about actually drawing it. And secondly, the reason behind colouring it is that when done, you're automatically in (anthro-wise) as a character in the next comic after Dark Wyld Rising, which'll be featuring robots. And at the end of it all, the one who I think has done the best job gets to be the main character.
And third, the things I absolutley LOVE about this pic; the gritty soot on areas with intense heat output (that's a brilliant idea), those yellow markings!! (they're so cool!!) and the general overall colour scheme is nice too.

Wow, I wrote a novel... oops.

Snowfyre In reply to tazsaints [2007-06-12 10:25:52 +0000 UTC]

Yeah Sometimes it's fun just to colour something and not have to draw it.

Oh yes..... think I remember now..... or at least bitz of it........ O__o (Damn exam season.... -__- )

The soot effect..... was a followup and more experimentation used from the orky picture I did sometime back. Using the tech for other things later.

As for the markings....... they were supposed to be green..... (cept I'm bit colourblind.... Really..... ) so I don't really know the real colour.
The marking designs were inspired from da necronz.

And thanks for the fav.

tazsaints In reply to Snowfyre [2007-06-12 16:14:38 +0000 UTC]

Well, all in all, it looks great. X3 And it doesn't matter too much about the marking colours, they don't detract from the look at all by being yellow (well it's leaning slightly to green, but it's mostly yellow lol).

Snowfyre In reply to tazsaints [2007-06-12 16:18:22 +0000 UTC]

Lol. I guess so.

Though this problem first came to a head when the art teacher wondered why my trees had brown leaves........

no skillz with it at all

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Snowfyre In reply to magicswordz [2007-06-12 01:08:37 +0000 UTC]

Well, I learnt almost all my skills by myself by looking at other's art and experimenting.

The only skill that was thought to me was the fact that filters existed and layers existed.......

Everything else was experimental at some stage. So guess anyone can learn it..... if they try hard enough.

magicswordz In reply to Snowfyre [2007-06-12 01:11:00 +0000 UTC]

everyone says to experemet but first i need to know what the buttons do

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Snowfyre In reply to magicswordz [2007-06-12 01:52:30 +0000 UTC]

Even that I ended up learning by experimentation. Nobody told me anything bout what each button does.

Most of them are rather similar to paint though.

Well, I haven't seriously tried drawing a sonic-styled anthro bot yet...... (cause I ended up gettin interested in drawin other stuffs like anthro suicunes.... [link] unfortunately......)

This one was drawn by (said in the descript)
All I did was to colour it.

Thanks for the fav anyway

Well, the ball effect was an experimental one that I am deciding on using for another piece later on....... it's more happy experimentation on that.

And thanks for the fav.
