Description

Too much time on my hands.
Hellebore has a few more reptilian features than Alsike. He is capable of both swallowing and breathing at the same time so if a solid food is small enough to eat whole he can take his time without worrying about suffocating. It can take days to fully digest a good sized meal. He also has a tongue sheath that his tongue is stored in when not being used to aid his senses. His tongue is a little thinner and about as long as Alsike's when fully extended, he just doesn't let it hang out all the time.

______________________________________________

Name:
Hellebore

Age: 500+ and loves the recent importance put on birthday parties for the sole reason of forcing his Dad to share cake with him, and presents, but mostly cake.

Gender: Male

Race: Classic Nightmare (tentatively, depending on breed standards if it becomes an official breed)

Appearance:

Hellebore is beauty to his dad’s beast. While tall he isn’t overly so and has more elegant lines.

He is various shades of medium grey with platinum hair. His locks are just as many as those on his father, but his are well behaved. There is no wild tangle of hair flying all over, just smooth, shampoo commercial worthy waves. If Hellebore had a favorite feature it would be his hair. But he likes his non-physical prowess more than how flippable his hair is.

Hellebore also inherited Alsike’s markings, but his are broken and far smaller. The skull marking is, gasp, not real. He likes the way it fits in with the occult image he’s been cultivating over the last couple of centuries. Get a good soap with grease cutting action and scrub long enough and all the white will wash off. It itches horribly when left too long on human skin so he normally removes it if he plans to stay bipedal for more than an hour.

Abilities:

Hellebore is slightly pyrokinetic. He can light a candle if it’s no more than a few feet away, but nothing flashier. At least it will be useful if he ever encounters a hall full of unlit candle sticks that he needs to walk down. That might even look impressively mysterious enough for his tastes.

Piddling fire powers aside, where his strength lies is in body snatching. If you want something done right possess a bunch of bodies and send your evil spirit buddies off to do it for you. He is limited by available spirits and occasionally by an unusually strong mind with defenses against his devilry, but there are always ways to work around the little setbacks. And if the occasional possessing spirit gets overenthusiastic and bitey you can hardly blame it on him. The media is far too quick to label things zombie attacks in his humble opinion.

Shifting runs in the family and Hellebore is not the exception to the rule. He can be either human or horse and will use whichever will get him what he wants fastest.

He also picked up his dad’s strength. Not that he has ever bothered to build it up, but he could probably still lift a medium pony and only be winded. The thing to really watch for is his freakishly powerful bite. Both the grip strength and backward angled teeth make getting free a bloody mess that will more than likely shred you badly.

Personality:

As long as Hellebore places personal value on something he will treat it extremely well. For example, he is fond of his family and can come off as sickeningly doting to one of them in particular. He has a criminal lack of care in handling everything else. If he wants to see how something ticks he’ll rip its head open or be elbow deep in its guts without battling a lash.

He likes to control situations by means other than violence. He still has an extremely mean bone in his body thanks to his parentage, but the situation has to really, really, really call for fisticuffs before he’ll resort to the Alsike method.

You can talk Hellebore into anything for the right price. Don’t come crying back to him if the results are not what you had in mind.

History:

Hellebore started off life as what Alsike considered a really big mistake. His opinion hasn’t changed since then. Long creation story short; he got the wrong lady pregnant on his way down to see the Cape of Good Hope, maybe witness a wreck or two first hand, and had the misfortune to meet her again on the way back north a couple years later plus one.

The less than human child was more than steady enough on its feet to follow him right out of its village. Despite his efforts to off the thing Alsike made it back to his sire’s house with a souvenir. He blamed this whole mess on the mother. When he called her a snake and witch of a woman he wasn’t exaggerating by much. His own sire blamed it all on his poor impulse control.

Unlike a lot of non-humans, Hellebore had a grand old time during the middle ages. There was some really ridiculous literature and misinformation going around that kept him entertained. He can also assure you with at least 90% accuracy that none of the witch detecting methods worked. The percent he can’t vouch for was straight luck and sheer stupidity. Exciting times to live in.

While not pleased when Alsike snuck off like a thief in the night to cross the water he was patient. He was more than ready when he got word that his younger brothers had stumbled across their delinquent papa during a drunken crawl through dockside taverns. Hellebore took the tip and tracked Alsike down for himself. He’s been punishing him with his constant presence ever since.

Known Relatives:

Oleander – Grandsire - Unknown, likely deceased

Alsike – Sire – Alive, and has no children, not even this one…

Sanguinary – Brother – Alive, whereabouts unknown, Hellebore may still be in contact with him

Coltsfoot – Brother - Deceased

Breeding Status: Temporarily on hold. Maybe. Hellebore has a great many interests, breeding doesn’t rate even the first page of that list when it is in single spaced 6 point font. Most times he has to be bribed to fake a romantic interest in the other party and the bribes he’s willing to go that far for are few and can get costly quick.

That he is. You can trust his daddy to be bad tempered and violent. Hellebore is nice as kittens and turns on you without warning

I reaally love the skull <3 While Alsike is my fave, there is something about Hellebore as well, and such a well-rounded, interesting character is my weakness in general <3
