Description
The bundle of spots and nots is being packed off to Keeneland for the HAarg RACE day to give everyone at the ranch a break from his high and mighty Dudelyness. Is that the Keeneland paddock? I have no clue, I couldn't find any pictures of it that didn't have a big ol' horse covering up the background so I made it up.

Completely standard. Same old, same old in the paddock, nothing really amazing.

It was the regular zoo you could come to expect pre-race. Lots of yuppies on the outside of the wrought iron fence looking in. About the same on the inside too. Bunch of four-legged three baggers that The Dude could have done without, but no one ever asked him how he felt about being around a bunch of ugly old stallions. Not fun my friend. Not. At. All.

But there were a couple of super cute little sises right next door and he was set on showing them all his righteous moves. Chaaa, he was so going to get their attention, like right now!

Suddenly he was a loose unit. Major nutter on the loose if you didn't count the lead shank attached to his handler. He sure didn't.

The way he moved it was more like he was a landed fish that the man at the end of the line was trying to reel in than a misbehaving half ton of horse. Even if he wasn't the favorite, all eyes were now on him as he flopped around like the tool he was.

Just when it looked like he was going to eat it during a particularly salmon-like lunge The Dude got another foot under him for his super cool move. And tail slid right into a couple of the guests standing around outside stall Seven checking out CF Sparrow Hawk getting the saddle strapped to her.

Whoopsydangit. Well... he meant to do that, of course.

1st- This Dudes A Wildcat - Nose
2nd- Sassy Sashay - 6 1/2L
3rd- Mayzie Day - 4 1/4L

Dude went off as the favorite, but was true to form and settled near to last in the field of six early on. It wasn't until midway through the far turn that he looked like he was going to do anything serious about changing that. Things weren't looking hopeful, he had a lot of ground to make up after all that dawdling he had done early on.

As they came out of the turn into the stretch Dude was running third and his watching owner was hopeful that he would be able to hold onto that position so that they could break even on his entry fees. But the dude did something he hadn't done before, not even in his only other career win, he fought for it. Maybe he was still intent on showing off for the filly that had been leading the race. Whatever it was, Dude had finally done what he wasted potential had promised, he had shown them how a top notch deep closer should do it. He had torn up the spongy Poly surface that favored his running style and beat the filly out at the head bob. A good note on which to exit into his new full-time stud career.
