The colonists on Epoch, mostly miners, were at first relatively unbothered by the IAF's martial law, although the appearance and seemingly reasonless aggression of the CEAT put them on edge. However, after the formation of the ESD, and with it the ESDAF, whom frequently requested use of their mines or took them by force for 'science'(The ESD were actually using them for that and intended to give them their mines back) and the IAF's aggression towards them, fearing they were allied with the CEAT, forced the colonists to create the CAF, using explosives normally for mining and refitted mining suits to fight for space. The CAF has no specific enemy, but has a particular grudge against the CEAT, and less so against the ESDAF.
