Description The Herdade wasn't looking for new horses. They certainly didn't have enough space, not before the older barn had its interior renovated and new stalls added, and, besides, they already had enough horses for a rather full showstring. What brought them to pull into Oak Hollow's driveway, after all, hadn't been the sale, but the chance to let their own horses stretch their legs after the lengthy drive.

Lydía was taking the chance to stretch her own legs, too, holding a rather sedate Mally as the leggy mare nipped at the grass sprouting here and there. It wasn't as if they'd known the horses were for sale, after all - their destination was a rather different one, and while driving all the way up to Northumberland had seemed like an unnecessary detour, Juan had assured that it would be necessary because there was something he needed to pick up in Scotland. She wouldn't be surprised if it were yet another horse.

Despite everything, the staff still found themselves gravitating towards the sale horses, after a quick google search revealed which ones actually were for sale. Despite not being supposed to bring any new horses back, the couple of empty spaces in the lorry really were very tempting. Most were currently admiring Prince, whose ears had turned back at the sight of strangers, but Lydía had been rather captivated by the young thing trotting energetically through a nearby field. She really shouldn't, but...

After handing Mally to Alex and a quick chat with the first staff member she could find, followed by a few exasperating minutes attempting to catch him, (that could be worked on) she found herself tacking up the young stallion, very pointedly ignoring the knowing looks Juan threw her way. So what if she got him? She'd never had a horse before. Granted, she'd tried out a couple of leases, here and there, but having one of her own would be different. And if space became an issue, well - he most likely wouldn't mind spending a couple weeks in a field, instead of cooped up in a stall. It'd do him good.

She barely had a foot in the stirrup before Blue shot forward, forcing her to climb up as quickly as she could or risk ending up on the ground. Somehow, she managed to quickly pull him to a halt, and briefly wondered if she should give up then and there or keep trying. Letting out a breath, she regained her bearings, flashed a half smile at the audience that had gathered by the fence, and nudged him forward.

He was a young stallion, still, and his brakes could definitely use a bit of work, but there would be time, and Lydía was patient enough for it. After popping over a couple of jumps, she'd finished the ride with a grin on her face and a resolution to give Sara a call as soon as she could. Maybe they really would bring back a new horse after all.

This story just summarized my entire harpg experience and I have to say, that is some high-class shading right there. Yum.

Same to be honest! You have no idea about the number of pones lining up outside my stables waiting for a reference D: And thank you! I was very happy about that shading. I'm figuring stuff out, yaaas

Looking great, love that pose and I also really like how your riders wear normal ordinary clothes like so many everyday riders do, not overly dressed up or looking like something out of a catalogue photoshoot for riding gear and fashionable tack - the socks being an especially nice touch. And it's nice to see a horse going from one person I watch to another person I watch like this!

Thank you! Yeah, those catalogue clothes are very pretty but not always practical for doing odd jobs around the farm, my characters usually wear comfy things, most even wear paddock boots and chaps instead of proper riding boots. And Katy forced encouraged me to buy one of her ponies, and since I've been in a ISH kick lately, this guy was just perfect!

I'm a bit limited cos of the era, mine have to wear what's suited to their social status in their time period, it's trickier showing who's practical and who's show-offy when the turnout is the same for everyone. (I do have Valentine wearing a baggy coat and a series of ugly hats when he isn't in his hunting clothes, just to show he values comfort over fashion, but he manages to look like those 1930s chaps who purely BY ignoring fashion and dressing super-casual, somehow becomes effortlessly stylish and looks like they're doing that on purpose, hahah)
