so basically unless theres some HARDCORE evidence that this timeline couldnt work, this is my legit headcanon
its too fun and there r too many similarities to not believe it hfgjsd
-similar colored hair, skin, and eyes
-similar hair shapes
-4 letter names
-iris uses dragons, leon uses charizard (not dragon type but dragon-shaped)
-both are champions
-very similar poses in official artwork
-both wear crowns (iris in her champion outfit, leon in the brim of his hat)
cuz game freak said trans rights!

the pokemon series has already had a trans gal character (featured here ! a female trainer talks about how she used to be a Black Belt, which is an only-male group. she even says "quite the transformation, don't you think?")

but alaaaas i dont think this particular one could become confirmed canon. mostly because of the fact that he has a younger brother (who iris isnt shown to have) and that sonia is stated to be his childhood friend. of course these things could be retconned for iris or simply just werent writen at the time and could be canon otherwise but still, it'd be a miracle and a half u___u
i do think it could be possible for a more prominent character to be trans tho, japan is usually lax on that kind of thing. it would most likely be hinted at than outright stated but still
