Synopsis: "Esteban experiences personal problems at Carnaval."

Of all the show's male characters, Esteban has the most depth, with this being a key example of that idea. This episode takes place on Carnaval, where Esteban's old ally Victor returns. He threatens to expose the fact that Esteban was in cahoots with Shuriki in taking over Avalor unless he helps him steal the Crown Jewels. If you didn't guess yet, Esteban makes this episode for me. The story about conflicting loyalties works wonderfully here since it's made pretty clear that he regrets his past behavior, and wants to show that he's not a bad person. It also helps that we actually see him go out of his way to protect others. I should also comment on Victor. He has the perfect set of manipulation skills and some genuine sympathy considering he thought he was backstabbed. As for how it ends, it all leads up to a solid lesson about not letting the past get to you, and to push forward in the future. If that's not awesome, I don't know what is.
