Description 1. Acrobat Boris

Writer: Chelsea Beyl

Director: Ehud Landsberg

Date: June 15, 2018

Synopsis: "Boris meets with old friends."

Well, considering that Father’s Day is this weekend, an episode like this seems fitting for the show. Let’s go into this. This episode has Boris being given an invitation to reunite with the Acro Bats, an aerial flying group he used to be in. Vee tries to help him perfect some of the moves he hasn’t practiced in a while (mainly the Supernatural Super Twist), but he struggles. This episode shows an interesting side to Boris, mainly in his struggle to be seen as a great aerial performer. It’s definitely something befitting his character considering that he is a slight bumbler who’s also known for wanting to stand out and be there for others. It helps that his bumbling stems from a lack of confidence, and if you’ve seen “Game Night”, it falls into place. You also have to admire Vee’s determination to help him get back on his feet, and it’s best shown in the ending. She tells him how he helped her to fly, and he decides to teach her some moves to show gratitude, and he manages to master the twist. It helps get across a simple, but nice message on being calm and letting others’ faith in you help you with what you need. Now that’s a recipe for success.

2. The Lemonade Stand

Writer: Jennifer Hamburg

Director: Marten Jonmark

Date: June 15, 2018

Synopsis: "Vee and Poppy sell lemonade."

Well, I did not expect an interesting twist to an episode with a simple premise. Let’s talk about this. This episode has Vee and Poppy opening a lemonade stand using lemons from Edna’s lemon tree. Chef Remy Bones thinks that the regular lemonade won’t sell, and secretly puts in a special ingredient to make it tastier. This backfires when Demi uses a spell to make the lemonade faster, and the lemons act up. This episode shows quite a bit to Chef Remy’s character even if he’s only in the beginning and end. He initially made a lemonade with unconventional ingredients (like pickles and fish), which is disgusting for humans, and he decides to spice it up. What makes his behavior click well is that it’s shown that he has high standards and wants to help others, but just applies it in the wrong way. Plus, he at least does not have an air of arrogance. In the end, Vee manages to reverse the spell, and he finds regular lemonade actually good. It gets across a nice message on not cutting corners to achieve success. It’s pretty good.
