It's more like an observation that I got from the opening. I thought it was interesting enough to note.

In the opening, you can see the members of the Shadowbolts put next to the Mane Human 6. Not only that, but you see in the movie that they could most likely represent the Elements of Disharmony (or at least show the opposite of the Mane 6 in some form).

When I say parallel, I am not referring to this image here. I am talking about the images here: sta.sh/21uj2vlghg0p?edit=1
(I did however put the Shadowbolts' names next to them so you know what characters I am talking about)

#1.
Sugarcoat is parallel to AJ. Since AJ is honest, Sugarcoat must be brutal honesty. Sure, AJ has said some things that can be taken badly, but all that Sugarcoat said has been pretty negative and hurtful. While AJ speaks her mind, Sugarcoat points out others' faults and bluntly cricifies them for it. AJ would never do that, even to someone she hated.
(Also, does Sugarcoat remind anyone of Trixie?)

#2.
Sour Sweet is parallel to Fluttershy. This one is more obvious, as while Fluttershy is all kindness Sour Sweet is just like her name. Sour seems all sweet and kind at first, but it's just a front for her cruel and mean nature.

#3.
Sunny Flare is parallel to Rarity. Sunny seems vain and mean, but we don't really know too much about her as she doesn't talk too much or even really show her personality all that much. Of course, Rarity loves fashion but thinks of others before herself (well when it really counts).

#4.
Indigo Zap is parallel to Rainbow Dash. I think this is similar to the Rainbow vs Lightning Dust episode between these two, especially since Indigo looks exactly like Lightning but with a color change.

#5.
Lemon Zest is parallel to Pinkie Pie. The two act very similar, but Lemon seems to be more interested in music....and that's all I can really think of at the moment.

And of course....Hum!Twi is parallel to Sunset. This is the most obvious one, especially at the end when Hum!Twi becomes Midnight Sparkle and Sunset turns into Pheonix Shimmer (I came up with the name as I haven't found an official one yet).

Morals of the movie?
First, don't have a big ego and control others to fit your vision of 'perfect'. If you make a mistake, then own up to it instead of cowering away from it like you did nothing wrong.
Second, don't go to others for answers for every single problem you have. Try to find the answers yourself, but rely on your friends to help you find the answers you seek.
Third, don't obsess over winning. It goes with ego as well, but don't worry about the act of winning itself. Try to have fun, even if you do lose in the end. There's more to life than 'winning', or even 'losing', at something.
And finally, just because something is popular doesn't mean you have to like it. Everyone has their own opinions on things, that is what matters...but of course some opinions are just downright insane/stupid to have.
