I'm making a Howl cosplay (Howl's Moving Castle) for a friend. This is the jacket, complete. The collar has a medium stiff interfacing to make it stand up.Please don't tell me the colors are off, I was not the one to buy the fabric and it's based off the artbook, not the movie.

the pattern i used was for a chinese/korean style dress that i altered so, it was more masculine, the sleeves were bigger and the collar taller. if you can find a pattern similar to >this< it would work nicely.
all the diamonds were just hand measured to fit the drawings and cut to size

Thank you. For this I used poly-cotton because that is what the customer bought for me. It's fine to work with if you're on a tight budget but 100% cotton is a better choice. C:

Where exactly did you get the pattern for the Chinese style top you mentioned?

The one I have I think my mom got at a yard sale, but wal-mart or any fabric store (hancock fabrics, joanns, hickey's, ect.) would sell them. Plus ebay would have plenty.

hey can u give me some tips on how to make this jacket! i have the shirt made but i'm... quite stummped of where to start on this? help me out? any patterns i can tweak or ideas?

If you can find a pattern for a Chinese styled top (straight sides, straight front for the buttons and a straight upturned collar) you can alter it where the sleeves are wider all the way to the bottom and the collar is taller.

It wasn't that hard actually. Getting the diamonds in the right spot was probably the most time consuming though.
