1. Use a tablet.
2. 4000x3000 canvas.
3. Use a round brush with 90% black color and pen pressure sensitivity on opacity.
4. Start cluttering the screen as a silhouette for the bug or character or whatever.
5. Render out some detail with lighter values to make the object pop out instead of just a silhouette.
6. Just let the painting roll, see where it takes me. The wings got there by accident, but it did alot. That's why its important not to overthink while you draw. Often, probability of a happy accident that makes well for your drawing is when you let your painting control you, and not try to control your painting.

ahh, i'll try something like that one day, i dont think it will come out as well as what you did, i have never been skilled in computer art, only photo manipulation

Yeah it requires practice and a good mental library (like, having played alot of games and watched alot of movies and stuff since you were a kid helps delevop your mental library to be able to do "cool" stuff.)
