Description Title: Katniss Everdeen's Training/Arena Arrows
Characters: Katniss Everdeen
Series: The Hunger Games
Time: 2 days
Intro: Philly Area Hunger Games Midnight Premiere
Media: Wood, Paint, Other...

Artist Note:

You guys may have noticed my artistic abilities have been traveling toward prop design. It's different and challenging which is probably why I love it so much.

These arrows were made for my Katniss Everdeen for the upcoming Hunger Games Midnight Premiere!!!

As an archer, I know how to make arrows but clear fletchings O_o. There is no such thing. So these fletchings were made, cut and painted by hand one by one. So time consuming...

Wooden Dowel were painted black on the tip and faded into silver. There are actual arrow nocks on the arrows so it will nock onto an arrow string but it is not recommended to fire them as the fletchings are very fragile.

Each arrow takes approx. 3-4 hours to make.

I was wondering how long the arrows are? Because i got bought the arena quiver on eBay and it's about 18 inches. So I'm not quit sure how much of the arrow will be sticking out.

if one wanted to buy some of these, one: how much would they cost? and two: are they actually fireable?

SolemnWishes In reply to imaginationrunwild [2012-09-25 02:22:13 +0000 UTC]

It's $65 for 6 arrows, shipping included in the USA.

And no. They look fireable but aren't because I designed them to be convention safe

Oh dang. I have a functional bow, but for Halloween purposes that's still a great deal!

I have a functional bow too. But as there is no such thing as clear fletchings, I had to figure an alternative.

What did you make the fletchings out of? Like what material? I'm making a Katniss Everdeen cosplay and I want my costume to be as well done as possible.

SolemnWishes In reply to AxelAsh [2012-09-17 23:11:57 +0000 UTC]

I honestly don't know what the material is called :/ All I know is that its very thin and plastic like. Pain in the butt to cut too.

Awesome work! What did you make the fletches with? It's very impressive.

SolemnWishes In reply to Tigermano [2012-04-20 05:42:24 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! Not as impressive as your work. I peaked at your gallery.

The fletchings are made of this plastic I found at my local craft store, I think its supposed to be used for painting but it served my purpose though.
