Description Clone Wars
Mygeeto
874 Days After Geonosis

The 501st's elite status afforded some comforts, but a lot more more issues. Mygeeto, which had been under siege for years already, had need of one of our detachments for a special mission. As it turned out, this would be something of vital importance, for the Supreme Chancellor himself. Collecting a secret Mygeetan power source, deep in a CIS-controlled ity, which would be used for - well, you already know the answer to that.

General Skywalker was off on some special mission the Council had given him, so full command was placed on Captain Rex (CT-7567). To his delight, with the final class of the ARC Training Program graduated, Captain Alpha (ARC/A-17), with the authority of the Special Operations Brigade, was free to aid the war effort in any way he chose. He chose us.

Linking up with the Galactic Marines, General Ki-Adi-Mundi led the charge to take the Separatists' power generator. Right under his nose, we took the crystal and put it on a gunship. To quote the journal of another trooper..."The success of the mission on Mygeeto was something of a revelation for the men of the 501st. Suddenly, we realized that the Jedi could be fooled. And if they could be fooled, they could be killed."

With the mission complete, the 501st was rotated out of Mygeeto not long after. Alpha would be transferred to the Venator-class Star Destroyer Intervention, on request from Senator Bail Organa, and supposedly met his end at the Battle of Boz Pity. The rest of the unit would be sent to Felucia or Coruscant. And after that, only a few more battles, Kashyyyk, Utapau, Mandalore, and Coruscant itself. It wouldn't be too long after that the 501st would be reorganized from a battalion into a full Legion...with Operation Knightfall...

Just a little scenario on what could have went on before the 501st secured the Mygeetan crystal in BFII. Also a cheeky reference to some concepts that  and I came up with.

Is that Bacara on the far left?

Nope, just a random trooper, he doesn't have the extra armor and antenna on the helmet that Bacara has, or the purple stripe on the...uh, whatever that thing is that connects the two parts of the bandolier on the chestplate. Thanks for the fave, by the way!

Hmm. Now you see, I thought that you may have been portraying Bacara as he appears in the Clone Wars Adventures Comics , all that's missing are the macro-binoculars and that's pretty much it. It would've been a very neat touch, but I guess you weren't aware of his alternative armor set.

Ah, I miss those comics! They were stellar! Though yeah, if I were doing what I presume is his earlier Phase II set I'd need the macrobinocs and to reverse the bandolier's direction.

Thanks! And nice! I came up with my own unit as well, the 87th Spec Ops, but I've yet to draw or really do anything with them. Wish I knew how to edit textures and put 'em into Gmod and stuff.

And just so you know, there is an official unit called 101st! It's a regiment, part of the 327th Star Corps.

Would your name happen to be a Warhammer 40k reference?

I mean, the 101st have barely been explored, so you could totally come up with stuff for them

And the Blood Ravens are a Space Marine Chapter from Wh40k. I was wondering if that was your namesake, but apparently not, lol.

No worries, friend. I'm saying the 101st has so little info (just check Wookieepedia) that you can essentially come up with anything you like for them.

Awesome work, man!  This is a fun piece.  Really takes me back to all the times I played the Mygeeto mission in the original BF2.  I loved that game, and I enjoyed your references to it here.  That trooper's quote about fooling Mundi is a great one.  Grim foreshadowing of the 501st's looming mission.  Plus, you put a CR-25 up in the sky!  I love those babies!  I wish we'd gotten to see more of them outside of the RC game.

I'd almost forgotten about our little brainstorming session on how to merge the Legends vs Canon versions of the 501st into one.  This still seems like the best answer to me.  Great work at weaving that idea into your write up.  And thanks for the shout out.

Thanks a lot my dude! I agree with everything you said. Wish we had seen more of those CR-25s!

And yeah, that was fun! That's one of the things I miss the most about the Legends continuity - trying to piece together information from varying sources like that. That was great.

Really nice man ! It's hard I think to make ragdollposing with this type of playermodel so, congratulations!

A phase 1 clone informing a punch of phase 2 501st clone troopers. Yeah seems legit

No, but I have seen some of the walkthroughs, I just sort of see it odd that he's not wearing the updated armor like everyone else unless he some clone on Kamino? But there's nothing wrong with this work here.

There's several cases of clones wearing Phase I armor late in the war. There's Delta Squad's advisor CC-01/425, the V-19 pilot HOB-147, and an ARC Commander in the comic Salvaged.

Also I just noticed the super trooper in the background and the one phae 1 trooper by the LAAT! I like the touch, but what's the story with that? I'm intrigued. Also are the AT-RT driver helmeted models from ARMA-3 clone wars mod?

RC-5968Frank [2018-06-12 02:03:20 +0000 UTC]

I love it! The composition of the image is so lively! The ships in the background, the AT wreck, the clones deploying from the LAAT, Advisor on hologram, and Rex addressing the objectives. Also the med droid is a nice touch! I love the mix of models also! Moded ones, new BF2, old BF2 and even RepCom for the one dead chrome battle droid!

Thank you so much! I tried to make this scene as detailed as possible.

For the Phase Is - I've always liked the idea that some troopers chose to keep their Phase I armor even after the Phase II was issued. I know all the instances shown of that are due to restraints (In RepComm, they couldn't show Phase II helmets since ROTS wasn't out yet, and the Clone Wars Adventures comics it's probably artistic licence), but I still like the concept. If Advisor, HOB-147, and the ARC at the end of Salvaged had Phase I stuff at the end of the war, why couldn't some 501st dude?

As for the ARMA 3 question - not sure, this is where I got the model: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles…

NP m8! It's astounding! I'd love to do something like this myself one day! In fact I'd love to make customize my own clone models too XD but I need more experience first. I'm starting out in MMD and working my way up to more advanced stuff!

Also I agree! I love the idea of a few guys haning on to the old equipment for nostalgia or just sheer preference, despite regs. If a few one-off troopers can do it, then why can't the 501st?! Rex did a hybrid, and for goodness' sake, the 501st carried the Republic through most major battles, they earned the choice!

I'd love to learn how to customize models too! Seems I'd have to learn Blender or Maya for that, though I'm just so damn busy these days. Same goes for SFM, wish I had time to learn that too, lol.

MMD it's quite easy, although IDK how to read Japanese and the English version of the model editor won't run for me...OOF!
