Description Yup. Prussia’s life was officially over. Germany had finally kicked him out of what was previously their house, and he now had absolutely no where to go. Austria wouldn’t even let him in the doorway, let alone live with him, and he knew better than to go knock on Hungary’s door.
What had he really done to get kicked out in the first place? Well, he was rather lazy and tended to drink all of the beer, but that wasn’t enough to get someone kicked out of their own home! …Was it? Or… could it have been that the previous day he had followed West around making creepy ghostly noises to make him think he was haunted and/or crazy? It was one great prank, until he happened to get caught, anyway. Could it have been that every time West finished cleaning he would purposely come in and completely mess up a room just to annoy him? Or maybe the time that Prussia had put blue hair dye in West’s shampoo?
But really, could all that seriously get a person kicked out?
Either way, here he was, wandering through the streets to an address he had gotten from someone that might not even be correct to visit a person he had never even spoken to, let alone heard of, to ask if he could stay with him.
He was way too awesome to spend even one night out here in the middle of nowhere, but if this guy would let him stay there, at least he’d have a roof over his head.
Scrolling back through the messages on his Smartphone, he checked the address given to him by America one last time before glancing up at the house in front of him. The number and street matched up, so this must have been the place. It was rather plain, painted white with two stories and a black roof, but it was something. Prussia shrugged before hauling his duffel bag over the stone path leading to the small porch and pressing his finger on the doorbell.
“H-hold on!” He heard a small voice with an accent he couldn’t place call out, and quickly wondered just what kind of person America had told him to stay with. All he knew was what the text said, after all.
Dude, it sux tht he kckd u out! Mby u could sty with my bro, he lives @ 1234 Maple Ln n Maple City, Can!
At the time, Prussia could barely understand what the American was trying to say to him, but he followed the address anyway and managed to figure it out. Except that he never knew that America had a brother. He had visited America plenty of times, and it had never been brought up before. America knew about West, but then again they were in a war…
“Sorry to make you wait,” The small voice said again, and the door opened slowly, revealing a man who looked almost exactly like America, dressed in a red sweat shirt with a white maple leaf on the front and jeans. He was blonde with bright, blue eyes and glasses. “I-I don’t usually get visitors…”
“Uh… well, America told me to come here.” Prussia said, unsure of what to say in a situation like this.
“Oh, Alfred? Well, come in, it’s freezing outside!” He said, opening the door wider and stepping aside. Prussia picked up his bag and entered the warm house, which smelled exactly like maple syrup. “I was just making dinner…speaking of which, I’d better get back to it, before it burns!” with that, he ran back off into the house, which was much different than West’s.
Despite the appearance of the house outside, it was very large inside, and slightly cluttered. It was cluttered in a good way though; expressive, with souvenirs and pictures everywhere. The walls in the living room were white with a maple-themed boarder along the top of the wall and a cup of coffee sat on a coaster on the clear glass coffee table, a book resting beside it. He could even hear a radio from somewhere in the house, softly playing upbeat music with a catchy tune.
Very, very different than West’s house. It looked like someone actually lived here!
“Do you want dinner, by any chance?” The blonde asked, poking his head out from behind a doorway so that he could see Prussia admiring things in his living room.
“Dinner would be awesome.” Prussia said smiling. Not only had West kicked him out, but West had kicked him out without a dime! He hadn’t eaten all day, he couldn’t afford a thing, not even a greasy burger off the dollar menu at a fast food restaurant.
“Alright, I hope you don’t mind pancakes!” He replied before stepping back into the other room, “Come on, I’ll fix you a plate!”
He already liked this place much better than West’s!
Prussia followed him into the kitchen, not surprised to find more maple leaves everywhere, and found the source of the amazingly awesome scent of maple syrup.
“You’re Prussia, right?” The blonde asked him once they had sat down at a small table in the kitchen and started eating.
“Yeah, and you’re… uh…” Prussia really had no clue at all who this was.
“I’m Matthew Williams, but you can call me Canada.” Canada smiled shyly. Canadian! That explained the accent! …There was a Canada? Prussia knew there was a country, but there was a Canada person?!
“Right…I knew that.” Prussia said, glancing awkwardly off to the side and noticing that the floor was checkered red and white. He knew that before long he was going to have to get it off his chest that he had been kicked out and had only come here to ask for a place to stay, but right now he was actually enjoying himself a little. Before he would have to face the rejection, that is.
“Sure.” Canada laughed. He knew that no one recognized him, but if you couldn’t laugh at a situation like this, there truly was nothing to laugh at. Just before he was about to ask Prussia why he had come to visit, Canada’s phone started ringing, and he excused himself to answer it, leaving the room.
Knowing fully well just how rude it was, Prussia got up from his seat and walked over to the door Canada had exited through and stood beside it with his ear pressed to it, eavesdropping. Hey, for all he knew, West could have been calling Canada to tell him to kick Prussia’s butt out on the street where it should be!
After listening in for a few seconds, he realized he recognized America’s loud voice coming out of the small speaker on Canada’s phone.
“So, hey, bro! I told Prussia to go see you, so yeah, he’ll probably show up in a bit.” The American all but shouted into the phone.
“He’s already here.” Canada responded in a much quieter tone. “Can I ask why?”
“Well, Germany finally threw his ass out on the street! Can you believe that?! Dude I totally want a video of that going down, I mean for reals!” Prussia could even hear America laughing. Of course he was laughing. He was America, he laughed at everything!
“Germany kicked him out? What did he do?”
“Uh, hello, he’s Prussia! Like he had to do anything! Germany probably threw him out for being lazy!” America responded, and Prussia really started to rethink their friendship.
“He can’t be that bad.” Canada countered, his sweet voice full of hope.
“Well, apparently he was. But yeah, I thought you wouldn’t mind him hanging around for a while. It’s not like you have any guests around, anyway.”
“I’ll think about it.” Canada said, “I have to go now.”
“Hey, Canada, wait!”
“Yes?”
“Aboot!”
“Goodbye, America.” Canada said, annoyance threaded in his voice as he ended the call. Prussia took that as his cue to leave and rushed back to his chair, stuffing his face with the sweet pancakes. A few seconds later, the door to the kitchen opened again and Canada made his way back to his seat at the table.
“America said you need a place to stay.” Canada said, looking up at him.
“Uh…yeah. I do.” Prussia said nervously, “West kind of…kicked me out.”
“You can stay here.” Canada said, blushing as he twirled his fork around on his plate. “I have a spare bedroom upstairs. It’s across the hall from my room…”
“Thanks,” Prussia mumbled around a mouth full of sweet, maple-y goodness, “You’re awesome for letting me stay.”
“I-it’s okay.” Canada said, looking away while he blushed more. Why was he blushing? Was it from Prussia’s sheer awesomeness? Without any other clues, this was the conclusion that Prussia had to come to. He was just that awesome!
“So, uh…” Prussia started to say, but ended up losing his train of thought before it could slip past his lips.
“What was that?” Canada asked, making his blue eyes meet Prussia’s red ones.
“Nothing.” Prussia muttered, eating his last bit of pancake.
“C-can I ask why Germany kicked you out?” Canada asked quickly, and Prussia knew the question was inevitable.
“That’s something you’ll have to ask him.” It took every ounce of Prussia’s being to not curse the bastard out right there, but he was trying to make a good impression. After all, Canada could kick him out just as easily, though he didn’t want to think about that.
“So you really don’t know?” the Canadian responded, “What kind of brother would throw out family for no reason at all?”
“West, apparently.” Prussia shrugged. There just wasn’t much else to say about it.
“Well, I promise I won’t kick you out without a legitimate reason.” Canada said smiling, “So, do you want to see your new room?”
“That would be awesome.” Prussia said, standing and grabbing his bag of belongings. He then followed Canada up the stairs to the second floor and into what was now Prussia’s bedroom. It was white with a black boarder and contained only a bed and a desk.
“I don’t usually use this room, so I’m sorry it’s so… boring.” Canada said, nervously twisting his fingers.
“I like it.” Prussia replied, throwing his bag on the bed. “It’s empty, so I can make it seem more like me, as you have done everywhere else.”
“I do that because… I already told you I don’t get many visitors, and I think it makes the house feel less… empty.” Canada looked down at the ground and shifted his feet nervously. Thinking back, Prussia realized that he must not have been the only one who didn’t know that Canada existed. No wonder he was so nervous! But he was so nice, how could people not notice him amongst all the jerks that made up the world? It was probably because  he was so quiet.
Without anything else to say, Prussia just pulled the sad-looking country into a hug. As long as he was here, Prussia wouldn’t let anything happen to Canada.
