Description
(after Shriek returned to the Silent Woods upon her defeat by Aelia and Ori, she chose to remain in darkness and be embraced in the wings of her deceased parents, joining them in death.

then, the scene changes to Aelia lying on the ground, along with Ori, opening her eyes and wincing from the wounds she received from Shriek. )

Aelia: (thinking) ...I couldn't save Shriek from her darkness...no...Shriek chose to remain in darkness and die in that very place she was born in. despite my efforts, my hands faltered, and I couldn't rescue her from the void that consumed her heart. yet another reminder of my inability to mend what was broken... and still... amidst the shadows, a ray of hope still lingers. (looks at the gravely injured Ori) there are still things that are worth protecting.

(Aelia slowly gets up, feeling the burning pain across her battered body, falls down, then slowly gets up again.)

Aelia: please wake up! (no response) Ori... please...!

(she slowly takes the wounded Ori who opened his eyes to look at his surrogate mother. a happy and relieved formed across her face.)

Ori: Ae...lia...?

Aelia: (holds Ori close to herself in a motherly embrace.) Ori...my precious one. I am so sorry for everything. my whole life has been woven with threads of tragedies and failures. in the end, the regrets of the past and the present weigh upon my heart.

(Aelia sheds one tear, that fell on Ori's head. he slowly looks up at her, seeing her shedding tears for Shriek and for Niwen broke his heart... then, Aelia remembers her mother's last words. )

'' a new sun must rise in its place to illuminate this eternal darkness. Join now with Seir. Embrace the Light... care for this land as I once did.''

Aelia: but... (she uses part of the last bit of her strength to heal Ori's injuries.) a ray of hope still lays. the sun will rise again, and a new age will begin with a final act that will burn my life away. I must fulfill mother's final wish.

(Ori's eyes widen, realizing that what she intends to do.)

Ori: Aelia, if you merge with Seir, you'll-

Aelia: my fate has already been decided from the moment I was born. my existence as a spirit ends here. but you...you must live on, Ori...for the sake of your family and the people who love you. please, do not lament my passing. for from every ending comes a new beginning. it is the Will of the Wisps that the sun rises to bring forth a new dawn upon Niwen.

(Aelia lets Ori go, and limps as she walks towards Seir, memories flash in her mind, her brief friendship Shriek, whose loneliness mirrored her own. her meeting Eki and Sol prior to their perilous jourey to Nibel and protecting them from the Decay with Caelum before he merged with Sein. she took care of Nibel's spirit tree until she reached adulthood. she protected Nibel's creatures up until that fateful night when Kuro's wrath was incurred, that has thrown her into the darkness and turned her heart to stone. her isolation in black root burrows and her finding the light again when she accepted Ori's kindness, as well as her forming her friendship with Sophie. and when Ku was born into this world. she saw much of her old self in Ori, which is why her bond with him was that of a mother and son. she remembers Kwolok, who succumbed to the effects of the Decay and mourned his death, making her question her own motive.

and finally, an image of Ori, Naru, Gumo and Ku together, as well as an image of Sophie, and those in Niwen that still live, like Mora, Baur, Grom, Opher, Tuley, and the Moki flashed in her mind, giving her further motivation of making her final act of sacrifice as she once again fell down. she looked to the golden light, and used the last remnants of her strength to approached Seir, who laid on the ground.

more tears spill out of Ori who saw what was happening, and ran to Aelia before tripping on the ground and helplessly watches Aelia staring at him and back at Seir, he was unable to hold back his tears and finally let them out...)

Seir: It is time, Aelia...

Aelia: yes. let the sun rise on Niwen once more... Q.Q

(and with that, Aelia still lays on the ground, no longer having the strength to get back up, and grabs hold of Seir and embraces her in her arms, closing her eyes as both of them glowed in bright golden color.)

Ori: AELIA! QAQ

(Ori tries to reach her until a yellow beam of light lit up the darkened skies of Niwen, and a wave of yellow energy was spreading, healing across the whole land. even going as far as to heal the wounds Sophie herself received from Shriek to help Aelia and Ori, making her get up and stare at the beam of light, and even reviving Ku from the dead, and heal her damaged wing, much to the joy of Naru, and Gumo who were happy to see her alive once more.

and we change back to the environment Ori was in as he saw Aelia join with Seir. her entire body was vanishing into sparkles of light as she stares at Ori.)

Aelia: I am very glad to have met you. I really am. know this in your heart, Ori. I will always love you. QwQ

Ori: QmQ (Whimpers, extends his arms to reach out to the vanishing adult spirit) W-Wait! don't go! Aelia!!! QAQ

Aelia: thank you, Ori...for everything...goodbye... TwT

(And with her final words, Aelia vanished into tiny sparkles of light that dissolved into the air, never to walk among the living again.)

Ori: Q~Q W-Why...? why must her fate... (sniff) be so sad...? ,>,~,<,

(some of the Moki appear, watching the poor little spirit bury his face on the ground and started to cry over Aelia's death, sad looks appear in their eyes as they hung their heads low in mourning for the brave spirit of the sun, the last surviving child of the late Spirit Willow. then, they see Ori's family coming to the scene, among them being Ku, who was revived by Aelia's light. Naru saw her crying son, and began to realize what happned, as did Ku and Gumo. and then...)

''ORI! ''

(the brunette teen in blue came running to the scene and gasps when she saw Ori crying)

Sophie: Ori, what happened? where is Aelia?

Ori: s-she...she used the last of her remaining strength. she merged with Seir to restore Niwen...to protect me... QmQ

Sophie: OoO QoQ Q~Q

Naru: Oh, Ori. Ó.Ò

Ku: Ó.Ò

Sophie: ( with tears running down her face) Aelia is...not here anymore... QmQ

(Gumo lowers his head, mourning for Aelia and her final act to save all life in Niwen. and Ori runs to his adoptive mother, as she immediately held him tightly when he started to cry even harder. Naru hung her head low in sadness for this devastating loss, and her heart breaking over Aelia's final act of sacrifice. Sophie collapses on her knees, and covers her face with her hands. Ku looks at her now healed wing, and approaches the crying Ori as she lowers her head, mourning as well.)

(just then, when everyone present was lost in grief, from the spot Aelia vanished, a sprout grew from the ground. the Moki let out peeps and trills in surprise as they watch the sprout emerging. the sprout grew more and opened its buds, revealing Seir inside.)

Ku: OoO

(Ori's ears perk up a bit, turning around when he sees the sprout.) Q.Q ??

Gumo: what is that? O.O

Sophie: it's Seir inside that sprout...! Q.Q

Naru: (looks at the sprout) I remember... when I was a child, Eki and Sol told me that a sprout with a light inside was a spirit who merged with that light. O.O

Gumo: so does that mean...?

Sophie: yeah. (sniffs, wipes her tears) there's no mistaking it. Aelia has become Niwen's new spirit tree.

Ku: (hoots happily) ^o^

Gumo: Aelia chose to accept her destiny to save the lives of all, us included. we must not let her sacrifice go to waste.

(Ori jumps down from Naru's hold, tearfully looks at the sprout. the sprout glows, sensing Ori's presence. he trills to the sprout wondering if it was really Aelia, and the light pulses in confirmation. and upon realizing the reason Aelia chose to sacrifice herself, despite his tears, he indeed was spared of the fate that could have befall on him at such a young age. he stares at Ku, whose life was also saved.)

Ori: Q^Q ,>^<, (happy squeee) ,^o^,

(the owlet and the spirit hugged each other, as they finally reunited at last, and nothing will tear them apart from each other again. Naru held her two adoptive children in her arms, silently thanking Aelia that she redirected fate and allowed Ori to reunite with his family, as the sun began to rise over the dark night sky, confirming that she will always have a special place in their hearts. and we hear the deep female narrator's voice saying the following...)

'' I embraced the light...when my name was Aelia...''

(the Moki, along with Sophie, Ori and his family took care of the new spirit tree when it was just a sprout, staying in Niwen for days and months. during that time, Ori rode on Ku's back as they flew in the air together, exploring the restored land of Niwen, flying over the Luma Pools, as well as Baur's Reach, and paying Mora a visit in Mouldwood Depths, and seeing the Gorleks start rebuilding their home in Windswept Wastes. the pair of siblings along with the family stayed in Wellspring Glades, and some time later decide to visit the silent woods that is now lush, vibrant and full of life. and look at the somber scene before them... Shriek, completely turned to stone, in the embrace of her dead parents.

Ku picks up a white flower from the bushes in her beak, and walks to the makeshift grave of Shriek and her parents, and puts the flower beside them, to show that she forgives Shriek for hurting her, and wishing she would be alive so that they could be friends, she gave a solemn hoot before turning away with Ori and left the Silent Woods with him. Ori decided to do the same for Aelia, picking a few flowers from the glades and placing them near the growing spirit tree that was once his mentor and mother-figure.

with the passage of the seasons, when the spirit tree grew tall enough, Sophie, Ori and his family got on the boat, bidding farewell to the Moki as they would be the ones to care for the new spirit tree. as they finally head back to Nibel, they sit together on the dock over the lake near Swallow's Nest, watching the sun set. Sophie gave Ori her scarf, and in an emotional moment, they give each other one last hug, she also goes and hugs Naru and Ku and Gumo as well, promising she will return to them some day, before she took the boat and set sailed off from Nibel, the wind calling her for another adventure.

once night falls, and a big full moon hangs in the sky, Naru and Gumo lay down for the night, and Ori curls up in his nest with Ku jumping into it and cuddling with him. the family was together once more...

several years pass, and the spirit tree that was once Aelia grew into a strong tall and mighty willow tree, with Seir glowing brightly at the center of the tree. on the bark were images of three large owls and three little owlets, depicting Kuro, and their three children, as well as Shriek and her parents, and at the center of the tree's bark, was an image of Ori and Ku, whom she viewed as her surrogate children and sacrificed her life so they could live on. the wind howls on that fateful night, as a glowing leaf of light was seen on the branches, indicating that Aelia's child will soon be born into this world, as leaf of light fell from the branch and blown away with the wind.

'' at last I was able to fulfill the Will of the Wisps... to reignite the light... and bring forth the beginning of a new life.''

and so, the story of Ori and the Will of the Wisps ends.)
