Really? That's cool...in what way?

The way you colored in the girls' faces, hair and clothes on your computer. Plus I see it in the way you drew everything beforehand.

We should make a music video sometime

Mauryv In reply to Sonion [2011-01-27 00:49:32 +0000 UTC]

If I could use those awesome cameras from UNT, that would be possible. I'm seriously considering starting a charity run. I do some thing for folks via videos and we go there!

Do they let you use them?

Mauryv In reply to Sonion [2011-01-28 04:22:31 +0000 UTC]

I don't know, I haven't asked yet. I'll give the guys at the lab a call one day and see what I can work with. I've been meaning to learn how to film music shows anyway. My dad wants me to film his band as well. Would LOVE to muster up $2500 for the camera but i've no clue on how to acquire that much cash in such a short amount of time... If only I could draw like you, i'd probably get SOMETHING! Video and editing will have to do.

Sadly, drawing like me doesn't yield that much cash either....neither does voice acting for that matter.

Their glasses really fascinate me XD Good job, I didn't even think it was a painting! I thought it was a photo until I looked closely. Great job.

These look like the paintings they used to have from some artist (forget his name) on the back of Readers Digest for a few years there.

The reflection in the glasses and store front and shadows in the table are simply fantastic. It's neat how this style has an almost muted palette and isn't super detailed in many respects (the hair isn't drawn piece by piece, the ashtray is simply lit) but is also incredibly detailed in the key areas which really makes those details pop. What I just wrote maybe a bit abstract as I know what I am trying to say but I think lack the artsy vocabulary to do so. Curse my lack of artistic pretension. Also now I have a sudden craving for tea *weird*.

Sonion In reply to LeftWingDuck [2011-01-26 04:50:17 +0000 UTC]

What kind of tea?

Yeah, I love working in this style. I am currently on the hunt to find an illustrator agent. I'd love to just do these all day.

LeftWingDuck In reply to Sonion [2011-01-26 05:05:01 +0000 UTC]

Oh any kind of tea. I'm a theic so I'll drink any kind available until I either feel ill or it runs out. During my grad school classes we would make pots of tea and take a mandatory break when the kettle needed to be refilled.

Tonight I am dying for some black tea with orange spice.

Good luck finding an agent. It would be lovely if you could spend your time doing what you enjoy. The American dream and all that idealism.

I am partial to Chai

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LeftWingDuck In reply to Sonion [2011-01-26 20:05:58 +0000 UTC]

Oh dear god, I adore chai. I got get some when I want to spoil myself after a good counseling session or when I've finished editing parts of my thesis. If I could have a chai pumped straight into my body through an IV I would.

Amusing side note...for the longest time my mum couldn't master the concept of chai tea and said instead tai chi. Hilarious. "Hanna why don't you run out and get us some tai chi?" Then I would collapse into a fit of giggles.

But yes chai tea is ah-mah-zing and has been in my top 5 teas for a hair over a decade now.

Sonion In reply to LeftWingDuck [2011-01-27 03:12:27 +0000 UTC]

I know tai chi and I love chai tea...so I get confused myself sometimes

LeftWingDuck In reply to Sonion [2011-01-27 16:57:12 +0000 UTC]

I think someone should create a new martial art that focuses on exaggerated techniques for making a chai tea latte. Call it chai chi. And this I'll never be a standup comedian. XD

Sonion In reply to LeftWingDuck [2011-01-28 14:00:02 +0000 UTC]

The movements would be fluid, rich and sweet...and a touch spicy

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LeftWingDuck In reply to Sonion [2011-01-29 02:51:02 +0000 UTC]

HA! Hilarious but definitely the way it would have to work. It's the spice that gives it mass appeal as a martial art.

Awesomenesssss! Jeez, I just love your painting technique. So realistic (especially the skin on the blonde's left hand! Yowzaaaa! *impressed*) The sort of caricature-y style is great too compared with the realistic modeling and shading of everything. The lighting is amazing, really sets the tone and time of day, plus the reflectiveness of those sunglasses is genius. I feel like this is such a typical scene but the style and expressions/poses of the subjects make it fresh and really make ya wonder what they're talking about. xD The slight fisheye effect of the background really adds to it too. I like it. A lot.

Funny thing is my sassy wife posed for the pick. Although her expression was nothing like this. I just thought it went well with the hand gesture
