Description
Bolesław Świętowiec pseudonym "Bolek" - fictional character from Polish film "Potem nastąpi cisza", novel "Zanim przemówią" and novel "Potem nastąpi cisza". He was a Pole from Cracow, brother of Franciszek Świętowiec and communist activist[1].
Left to right:
- student of a Cracow university[2] (probably 1920s)
- member of the Communist Party of Poland (1920s-1930s)
- partisan of People's Guard of the Polish Workers' Party, then of People's Army (1942-44)
- battaillon commander from one of the divisions from 2nd Army of Wojsko Polskie on the Eastern Front (1944-45)
- regiment commander[3] from one of the divisions from 2nd Army of Wojsko Polskie on the Eastern Front (1945)
[1] Despite his communist views, Świętowiec supported the integration of people from various backgrounds, including anti-communist ones, into the Polish "People's" Army, among other things, he attempted to rehabilitate the deserter Stefan Olewicz (www.deviantart.com/sonthisland… ) and reward his heroic actions during the Battle of Bautzen. Perhaps this was influenced by Bolek's love for his brother, a high intelligence officer of the Home Army, who died at the hands of the Nazi occupier.
[2] It is not known whether Bolek studied at the Jagiellonian University or the AGH University of Science and Technology. I drew him a student cap from the Faculty of Philosophy of the Jagiellonian University, because he was a communist and Marxism is a trend in philosophy.
[3] After the death of Colonel Krycki, Major Świętowiec took over command of the regiment to which his battalion belonged. Bolek himself fortunately survived the bloody battle of Bautzen
