I had a strange urge to speedpaint this scene. It's just so powerful and beautiful all at once. It had a huge effect on me as a child.This is my first attempt at a speedpaint, so I have no idea how I did xD I hope all you Atlantis fans out there who help keep this underrated movie alive in your hearts and minds will like this
Used Photoshop CS4 and my Wacom Pen&Touch tablet

Beautiful! I also loved that scene, it's a shame Kida isn't one of the official Disney princesses. She was born a crown princess and she's a real great female character. Hmm I guess it's because she's not popular.

It is so nice to hear you say that! I just felt like drawing that scene... it's like my childhood magic summed up in that moment. I totally fell in love with that movie after that. And I think she isn't for three reasons (lame ones in my opinion xD )
1. She's technically a queen.
2. That was one violent disney movie xD
3. She didn't 'sing'

I used to watch Atlantis 1 and 2 when a child. I enjoyed them both well the first being my favourite of course.
Oh, I forgot see doesn't sing. So they wouldn't count her as a official princess, which like you said is lame. But she was a princess until the end of the first film. But I guess it's because none of the other official princesses actual became a 'queen'. Makes more sense now lol You think Atlantis was violent for a Disney film?

Well considering like, 89% of the people in it die, including her parents, well yeah, I'd say it's rather violent xD And yes, I don't think any of the other princesses actually became a queen when you think of it... except maybe Ariel or something. But yeah, those movies were SO GREAT. Just the whole walking on water and being summoned by a crystal thing to save your people who have white hair and cool facepaint = immediate capture of imagination as a child. Seriously everything I played was based off this movie xD But I remember the beginning a lot, you know when Atlantis sinks and stuff? When all those people are trapped outside the bubble and that couple just look at the wave and pull each other closer as the wave consumes them... Disney, right in the feels D:

True XD Her mother disappeared into the crystal presumably dead. Well actually she must be because she never came back. Oh yeah I forgot her father was murdered. But then a lot of Disney films are like that for instances The Lion King with the king being murdered by his actual brother. Ariel never became a queen she just married a human prince and she was a princess herself. I don't think her actual title was queen in The Little Mermaid 2.

I was to draw them seeing each other while Kida's bonded with teh crystal and having her mom give her the bracelet and kida remembers when she sees milo again, it'd be so great!

Yeah, that movie was excellent too, and sad, but in a good life lesson kind of way. Disney did a great job animating that one
