This is from an rp between and I from a long time ago. This is also my late activity check. I've rp'd so much and Embertail has quickly become my favorite character, she's so complex! Please join this group it's so fun! The fox on the left is the brother of revenge, which is the one Voicestar faced. The one on the right is the one Embertail encountered, he is the brother of forgiveness.
BettaRae said the following:

"Just be careful." Voicestar mewed to the warrior. "I don't want you getting hurt again." Moving off in the opposite direction of Embertail. It wasn't long after they parted ways Voicestar scented a starling pecking around the base of tree. He watched it for a few heartbeats waiting for the right moment to pounce. The bird pulled and tugged on a worm and by the time it was nearly free the leader pounced the same time a large dog like creature did. A screech escaped his muzzle and a battle cry followed. The fox was small, most likely just exploring out of the den. A few furious swipes of his paws sent the fox kit on its way.

"I will," Embertail called over her shoulder. She began to crouch when she saw a flicker of orange and black over in the direction Voicestar was. "What the," Embertail mumbled, looking up she was startled, there stood a fox kit right before her face. She began to shake with fear, "Is this little one going to kill me for what I did to it's parent?" Embertail stood with her eyes locked on the kits. "Why isn't he attacking me?" Embertail thought terrified. The kit stepped forward and sniffed Embertail's side, where the wound was. Embertail slowly turned her head and watched him, the kit smelled it's father on her fur. He sat down and cried little whimpers, Embertail's heart swelled with pity. "I took away this poor thing's father." Embertail sat down and tried to calm the little fox.

BettaRae said the following:

"Good riddance, we don't need anymore foxes growing up in our territory!" Voicestar hadn't heard from Embertail and felt worry hit him in the pit of his belly, what if something happened to her? Racing the way the she-cat went Voicestar smelled her and another fox. "Embertail are you....all right?" Voicestar's usual rock solid demeanor crumbled when she was Embertail and the fox kit. "What is going on?!" He demanded.

Embertail looked up at Voicestar with tears streaming down her cheeks. "I.I..I killed this thing's father," her voice was weak and cracked from crying. The tears continued to come as she saw the angry face of Voicestar, her stomach was twisted and she couldn't speak. "I...I murdered it's father," Embertail had never killed anything bigger than a squirrel, and that was for food. Knowing that she killed this miserable kit's father almost made her physically sick. "I've been having nightmares of little foxes running around me with demented smiles one turn, and then when they came back around they had horrified, crying faces. They would cry to me in fox-tongue and continue to circle me in an endless blur." Embertail was shaking while telling of this never-ending phantasma that followed her in her sleep. She didn't want Voicestar to exile her and she didn't want this kit to follow her, either. Embertail avoided Voicestar's gaze in fear of dissapointment in her weakness.

Not knowing how to respond Voicestar just looked from cat to fox and back again. He had seen she-cat get up set about things but never over a fox kit. "It wasn't your fault." It was the only think the leader could bring himself to say. And he knew it was the wrong thing as soon as he said it. "We need to go, the fox will be fine."

Embertail wiped the tears away and walked over to Voicestar. The fox kit looked at Voicestar, getting scared it ran away. Embertail made sure not to watch it. Embertail looked up at Voicestar, her fear of his anger made her skittish. "It..It's the nightmares." Embertail said, "They're driving me crazy."

"Isn't there something the medicine cat can do?" Voicestar had had nightmares recently but had gotten over them for the most part.

Embertail hadn't even thought about that, "That could work," she said as she pondered it over. The nightmares were controlling her, it seemed to her. "Voicestar, Am I a failure to the clan?" Her eyes shone with doubt and sadness.
