Description
The temperature is bordering on sub zero. My breath fogs the glass that isolates me from the rest of the world. I press my hands up to the see through wall and push as hard as I can.
Nothing changes.
No matter how hard I try, the glass refuses to budge. I can see people milling around, holding hands, hugging, chatting. But none of them can see me, lonely in my own little world.
And I am unseen, forced to watch the jolly nature of my so called peers.
Desperation kicks in; I throw all my weight at the now smeared and stained separator, covered with tears and isolation.
I rage at the unfairness of my situation; as the winter sunshine abandons me like rain abandons the sky, I pummel my fists and frantically try to break free from my prison.
But I fail, as always I fail.
And now I despair, press my back to the glass and sink to the floor, I lean my cheek against the smears and weep.
I am lonely. And I am stuck here.
