Derek Castillo — college study buddy of Emily Huang
A San Diego native, Derek often strolls around in flip flops, even in the dead of winter (winter? What winter?). His cheeriness is contagious and cannot be contained. Derek's love of Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, LotR, VeggieTales, and many other things has never been in danger of dying, but having a little brother gives him an excuse to rekindle his enthusiam. In terms of talent and technical skills, Derek is best at playing band instruments, which contrasts with practically everything else he loves to try (and at which he fares only passably).

Derek later studies Math (major) and Physics (minor) at PLNU, where he gets tuition remission because his mom works there. :P
