Description      I could without a doubt say that I severely missed the elevator. My feet were sore from climbing each and every step today. It was annoying to feel thousands of tiny painful pricks every time I took a step as we continued up the new set of stairs. It was made all the more unbearable due to Mike's intense gaze blaring into the back of my vest; he had begrudgingly allowed me to lead.

The new responsibility did bring back a bit of life into my eyes; I was hoping maybe a small part of him was starting to realize I could protect myself. Unfortunately, he would not let me lead without constantly muttering to himself about how defenseless I was with no weapon and no memory. To be honest, it was like a blow to my ego. Hence, I found myself in a position of quietly morbid joy. I believe it was because Mike was toiling in his worry that I couldn't handle what laid ahead of us and with me leading; nothing he could do about it.

Our destination finally revealed itself to us as we climbed the last step...finally.

A beautiful room looking to decay through age and four musty flags hanging out of the window. It should be an easy win; just replace the stained old one with our own. However, currently trying to do so were a team. Quickly, without thinking, I rushed at the blonde woman with the blue tank-top and we both accidentally fell to the ground.

       "s-sorry."

I stuttered quietly before getting back up but making sure to guard the flags.

"Quite alright. It happens but do try to be more careful."

I knew her words were politely blunt but I still felt somewhat insulted.

On the other side of the room, a tall boy with jet black hair covering his eyes seemed to be facing Mike; whom, if he were in any other profession, might of quivered at the boy's strange sight as he seemed to face down at Mike.

"I'm very sorry but I've come to win ma'am. You'll have to remove yourself from that current location. I don't want to needlessly attack you."

The blonde in the pretty tank-top said as politely as possible.

"I could say the same to you."

I was trying to be as calm as possible. I couldn't blow this; it was my opportunity to prove to Mike I could handle myself.

Like a cat, the woman walked up to me as if grace itself was naturally hers to wield. I hadn't seen it coming when she gently placed her hand on my face. Well, in a more literal rather than emotion-related sense as her fingers sprawled out over my skin like a spider's legs. I could feel it as she made tiny prickles into the flesh with her nails; drawing a small amount of blood.

"Mike is it? Dear, I'm afraid you'll have to give up this round if you don't want your precious teammate to get hurt."

She said before moving her other hand towards my throat.

I faced Mike to shout to him about being able to handle this but instead I was met with the gaze of the black-haired boy as his eyes were now locked onto mine. I felt a controlling need to hold still despite myself and I couldn't fight against it.

"Time is running out Mike. I'll win this round either way."

Mike drew his gun in reply to her but the boy knocked it out of his grip. Helpless, he looked away and tossed our flag to the ground. Before I knew it, I was flung into Mike's arms. Once more, my ego had been damaged; this time by a proper blonde woman and her pet mind-controller.

      "Connor, grab the flag."

She said before hurriedly rushing to replace their own.

      "Yes Kat,"

the mind-controlling one whispered softly in reply to his friend.

     "Stay down,"

Mike whispered to me as he began to slowly inch towards the pair taking their time to bask in the glory of their apparently imminent victory.

Before anyone could see what was going on, like a flash Mike had grabbed both his gun and Connor; whom I'm sure could very well feel the cold steel of the pistol against his ear.

"Don't move or I'll shoot. Sorrow. Grab the flag. Don't look over here."

I nodded to his orders and got to my feet before grabbing our own flag and moving towards the one to be replaced. Unfortunately, Kat the proper blonde was not willing to give up without a fight. A multitude of different walls appeared before me. Sighing, I touched each one and explained a series of codes. The shapes seemed to be set to a static stasis in which ,unlike their door-predecessor, they were not of a penetrable nature. This meant that miss Kat was becoming more apt with her technique.

"Let the kid through or I'll shoot! I'm warning you!"

Mike had little to say after that.

It had given me just enough clout to bypass the walls while Kat wasn't paying attention and busily demanding her friend not be hurt. I was finally about to replace our flag! Then there was a sound of a recurring gun shot. I turned to look and in a dazed trance Mike seemed to be firing off every bullet of his pistol into the wall behind him; Connor was controlling his actions. I looked down at the flag again. victory or a friend?

The answer was obvious...I took out all of old flags from their as well as our perch and scrambled them about hurriedly.

"There, now there's no reason to hurt one another. We can do this fairly."

I stated before pointing to the pile.

I'd never seen three people jump so fast. It's not like it mattered though, I had hidden our new flag behind my back and quickly placed it in it's proper place.

      "Found it!"

I told the three in the pile of flags.

All three looked up to see the new flag billowing in the wind with it's annoying sonar buzz. One, that had I been paying attention to, I probably would've heard. Connor quickly turned his head towards the doors as they swung to life revealing our judge; Gilk.

"Good job Sorrow. Now, everyone back to your dorms." Is all Gilk said politely before marching once more through the doors and motioning silently for us all to follow.

I'm not sure what had come over me. However, now that the round was over, I had immediately apologized to both Kat and Connor as well as the other teams on the way back for any distress myself or Mike had caused. They seemed at odds with my suddenly chipper demeanor with the exception being Connor of all people. In the end though, all I could do is hope I made a few new friends.

You know Z said that if anyone tried to kill anyone else that a judge would interfere so how much of a threat was really there in the first place?

Not that I'm complaining as this ending is fun. XD

He was such a mean and protective lil' guy. He used to catch snakes and rats and bring them to our door as "presents". ^^
