I don't know what's with me and wanting to make Hyakko fanarts. I mean, I like the manga, but there are a lot of other series I prefer yet I don't feel the urge to make a fanart for.The fanart formula is yet to be fully discovered ! I think the fact that I like the characters more than the series itself might weight in. Oh and their plaid skirts are waaay fun to draw too !

That's the thing with Slice of Life anime, it focuses on character development instead of story. It's what makes anime like Mitsudomoe, Lucky Star, Azumanga Daioh, PaniPoni Dash, etc. so awesome.

...and orange and black is such an awesome combination.
Honestly though, Hyakko seemed like a very character driven series anyway. I always find it easier to like character driven stuff (when it's done well). The people on your screen suddenly become interesting, and because of that you want to portray them. Just a theory anyway.

And yeah, especially for that type of slice-of-life series, having good and interesting characters is clearly essential, as, well, it's not like we're watching it for the enthralling plot !

True, but even for plot based shows I think characters are important, perhaps not as important but still important. I mean, if I can't bring myself to care for the characters then I'm probably not going to care what happens to them in the end either

les jupes plisées c'est trop marrant à dessiner en fait. Dès que tu les bouges un peu ca se barre dans tous les sens et ça fait tout de suite un rendu "intéressant" ^^
