Description [=]
Ilana stood at the top of the stairs, looking down into the living room. Lance, Brian and Octus all stood there expectantly, all wearing grins on their faces.
Ilana noticed that every window had been covered with large curtains, and a double-lock had been placed on the door. She also noticed that all the furniture had been pushed to the sides of the room, leaving a large open space in the middle of the floor.
A murmur of realization began to tug at her mind, and she began to smile as she slowly walked down the stairs.
“what’s this all about?” she asked the three. They looked at each other, their smiles growing wider.
Suddenly, Lance drew his guitar out from behind his back and began to play, adding strings to a set of horn music that began to pulse from whatever speakers Octus had inside himself. Familiar music…
Ilana’s hands shot to her mouth in shock as Brian stepped forward, extending a hand as a familiar Galalunian folk song filled the house. [link]
“Milady” he said over the music “may I have the honor of this dance?” already one of his feet was tapping along with the music.
Ilana smiled wide enough to split her face as she leaped out of her heels, immediately positioning herself behind him after she dashed down the stairs.
“you remembered!” she said as she and Brian spun out onto the floor, immediately moving into fast rhythm the Dance.
“of course we did!” Brian smiled “you think we’d forget your birthday?”
“we’ve been prepping all week!” Lance called. He played his fingers across the guitar in perfect tune.
“the hardest part was keeping you distracted.” Newton added. He was moving his hands to mimic the horn playing, much to the other’s amusement. Ilana laughed with joy as she and Brian continued dancing. she had been worrying over nothing.

The particulars of the dance, which had the two participants back-to-back with hands clasped across one another's backs, involved fast, coordinated feet and leg movement, as to not smash the partner’s feet. the coordination was especially apt in this case, as Ilana was in her stocking feet while Brian was wearing boots. Ilana gave a brief glance to Brian's massive black workboots, and an equally brief moment to wiggle her toes in her stockings.
Of course, she knew Brian was as coordinated as they came, so no foot-smashing occurred.

The music carried on late into the night, Brian giving Lance and Newton both a turn dancing with Ilana, who never stopped smiling. Lance also enjoyed it, even letting out a Laugh that took the others by surprise.

The evening ended late that night, with a Fresh-baked cake eaten to a series of Galalunian songs Octus had stored in his database, to which the four clapped along till their hands were numb.

Ilana couldn’t think of a better birthday, certainly not one where she had had as much unrestrained fun. after the years of pageantry and pomp, just spending an evening with her closest friends was...soothing.
and spending it in such a manner immediately made her forget the worry and sadness that had been wracking her mind all week. Her father had sent her away for her own safety. He wouldn't want her moping around.
She looked around her friends as all four lay about the room, Lance and Brian beginning to nod off. Newton was silently cleaning up the cake dishes and beginning to set the Furniture back in place. she felt her own eyes begin to waver, and curled into Brian's side on the couch. She noticed that the three had that affect on her, allowing her to forget her troubles.
she looked up at Brian.
he, in particular...

random "Ilana's Birthday" scene that came to me a few days ago. an Idea for a 'season 2" episode, where Ilana, as her 17th Birthday approaches, is wracked with guilt over 'abandoning" her planet, and the fact that It looks like Brian, Lance and Newton have forgotten the big day hasn't helped matters.
all that changes, of course.

so yeah. your thoughts?
