Description I made this for a presentation that I'm giving at Okanogan State park August 2nd. A friend of mine works there and they really needed more presenters so get to show people how to play with clay.

I know it's not very good, but all I had to make it in was paint. I'm going to be making a rose one later this week, hopefully I'll have a bit more patience with that one. It should be easier now that I know how to do it. Maybe I'll see how to make this one better without totally starting over.

I think that this is great as it is. It's really clear and easy to read. Clean-cut and easy to follow-not confusing at all. I guess the simplicity of paint kinda helped you out (in my opinion).

I do have a question- What do you do to get rid of fingerprints? all your clay is so smooth, even the unbaked clay here! I buff and polish a la *monsterkookies , so I can handle after it's baked.

I found you through a journal feature from Kookie and it's obvious that you are really skillful and talented with polymer clay. I hope I can continue to learn from your example!

Actually I think the reason I do so well on keeping the finger prints off is because I have wired fingers. I tend not to have finger prints in the summer and sometimes winter. It's really odd, my fingers just get completely flat. It can be useful but they dry out really easy and if they get to dry they crack and bleed. If you look at some of the pictures where I'm holding stuff you can see all kinds of odd lines in my fingers. [link]

Other than my mutant fingers, I just try to smooth things as I go. And I do buff and polish after baking. Probably not to helpful, sorry.

No, it's cool to know that you were basically born with claying fingers. I do wish that you wrote me back with some magical technique that works really well. But you can't help your fingers being smooth. Thanks anyway!

Yeah, probably won't get started on them tell at least September. I'm trying to make all I can for Kumoricon. But I should have a bunch of new stuff up soon.

How do you make it so that the apple keeps it's shape once you've finished?

soupisgreen In reply to random-nothings [2008-07-20 08:13:50 +0000 UTC]

Oh I guess I forgot that part. You bake them at 275F or 130C for about 15 min depending on how big you make them.

I use Sculpey 3, so if you use something else make sure you cheek the baking directions for it.
