"Can you believe how hard it is to find sunglasses in my size that fit to my outfit?"

As previously teased, my Persona's redesign is in the making. I admit, the scenic look of this s due to my growing interest in Reggae and Caribbean Music.
The head wasn't easy to design since I had to put many different head shapes and alternative anthro appearances into consideration to repurpose the old 'animalistic' look. The result: I ended up with plenty different characteristics, to make myself as unique as possible without seeming overloaded with details. My most mentionable ones are a pair of distinctive antennae to sense the surroundings and probably annoy someone with, the pointy ears and long, curly hair instead of feathers. Frankly, I combined things I like to draw, not even mentioning the rest of my body or even the fashion part. So stay tuned for a more expansive part of my redesign, talking about a reference sheet and maybe some sketched artworks to conclude it.
I'm hoping it won't collide with all the other project I have planned. What they are, I don't want to tell you yet. So either you'll see yourself or wait for the end of the month when I'll mention them in my monthly reflection.
For now I can lay back and enjoy a few days in bella Roma, a short status update will go in detail about that soon.

Hello ! I'm here from Project Comment, to attempt a fair critique.
So, my first thought when I saw it in the gallery was "Gosh, these colors clash terribly together !"
But the more I look at it, the more I see that there is some sort of balance with the warm and reddish tones on the up-left side and the darker, colder greens on the down-right side.
The lines of the face are crisp and expressive, and the shading & lighting works really well to give it a sense of depths. I especially like the small teeth and the tongue; they really sell the "bit-prehistorical bird" look.
It shows that you either spent a lot of time on it, or that this is a type of shape you are comfortable with.
However, the hands do not hold the comparison. They seem a bit flat, and kind of still. (I'm currently in a "hands" phase so it's something I'm really sensitive to right now). I would suggest a bit more shading (perhaps a few more details, like small scars or skin folds?) and some reworking the scales on the right hand's index.
I'm not entirely sure what is going on with the sky in the background, but both hues (the bluish-grey and the shaded orange) look really cool, so I can understand you not wanting to choose one over the other.
The definitive good points are the little feathers at the tip of the antennaes and the blue-green hair beads. Those look incredibly good. Also, the green feather balances the colors nicely. It might have been an idea to find a way to add a small touch of orange somewhere in the down-right corner (maybe with another bead?), but it definitely works as well without.
All in all, that's a pretty cool-looking bird persona, so congratulations on a job well done !

I take your words to heart, I know my hands look flat but I haven't found a reasonable way to shade them better... in this blocked out, cell-shading, it's too difficult to make smooth transitions, but I'm working on a solution. So thanks for pointing out to me that it didn't go unnoticed.
I'm also very concerned to have all my colours properly balanced, while featuring a specific but not prominent contrast in them. Don't worry, I got that down

A cool-looking bird, and now a llama? This day keeps getting better.
Don't worry too much about the hand. It took me so much time to understand the basics and even then I mess up half the time.
Also, cell-shading is a challenge in and of itself, so huge respect for the actual result, no matter the small flaws.
I'm always interested in how people deal with colors, because I'm kind of bad at making something that works. I can tell when it doesn't, but most of the time, when I attempt something a little bit more ambitious than one general hue, I'm always disappointed.
So, kudos for your color-skills

Inktober is really forcing me to improve, and so far, I've found that de-saturating the colors really helps, so I'm going to keep attempting colored things.

Hi there! I’m from and I’m here to leave a critique
I was drawn to this image not only because its crisp and professional, but also simply interesting to see a bird personification. I’ve been using a similar concept in my fiction for my villainous race of vulture/raptor anthro birds, and this picture will come in handy as ref for if I ever draw them!
Your picture certainly speaks well of your personality! It’s eyes are very well illustrated and eyes are always said to be “Windows of a person’s soul”. It even has what I call a “Cool” expression of confidence and his own style. Red hair speaks of his attitude, and his green shirt tells he’s laid back and like to be on holiday. The rings in his ear also tell me he’s a bit of a rebel 
Still, well done!
Now for critiques. The only thing I could find is the sunset behind him. There is too much contrast between the sun and the sky around it. I don’t know if some sunsets are like that in the tropics, but generally the moon only has that effect. That’s because the moon is less bright than the sun because it merely reflects light from it. The sunset only has that glow when it’s partially or completely set and all that’s left is twilight. But I’m no expert either, I gotta do more research on sunsets as well.
Fun fact: Apparently there is a subtle difference between a sunrise and sunset… interesting, isn’t it?
Another nit-picky thing is the shading doesn’t quite match the sun behind him. It looks like the sun should actually be a bit more to our left side than directly behind him. But don’t worry, I was told that it’s always tricky when putting a light source behind a person or object. At least I try to avoid it whenever possible
But still, very nice picture! Eagles and such are an awesome bird of prey too, but I really like vultures because they’re badass and got ATTITUDE!!

Firstly, thank you for pointing out the parts of this image that I portrayed well. It iis helpful to me because you affirm that I have been successful with my intention to express this certain mood and to draw the viewer to the character's eye. After all, I tried hard to achieve that ^v^
To your question: this pattern of the Hawaiian shirt is a 'texture' I used. But to your information, I created it myself for the sake of this very artwork here. I offer it to free use and uploaded it to my Stash. You can find the link there in the description of my artwork. If you ever like to use it, you can and I'd be happy for a little credit.
Secondly, the sun. It might wonder you, but the sun in comparison to the background has been pointed out to me before and seems to be an obvious detail in the eye of a critic. I don't. Because when I added the sun to the background, that was merely a rushed decision. It is neither a scenic object, nor a definite light source of the image. It is there to set the mood for a relaxing evening at the beach.
In the future, I'll keep that in mind though and don't try to improvise and solely rely on a quick good look.

sorry it took me so long to respond i was busy today. But here's a helpful critique~
The lines are crisp and clean, and the shading is very well done. The details are fantastic every bead, little scale, and entente shadow counted making the piece have some really good depth and character to it.
-However there are some things i wanted to point out; In the background below the sun there is just an orange/red block with teal/blue to the left of it. I understand the want of a setting sun but the blue wouldn't be that close to the sun, it would be out farther away mixed in with purples and pinks depending on how bright and red the sunset is. The sky colors would also be above the sun as well, not just below it, for it takes the sun to be fully out of view for the stars to start showing and they wouldn't be that close to it, even thought the stars looks fricken fantastic and i wouldn't change them.
-there is also no shadow beneath the finger that is on his sleeve

I find it interesting that you pointed out the sun to me and how good you seem to understand the work of colour and appearance of stars in a sunset. I definitely did not put so much thought into that, because it was rather an improvised step at the end of the artwork's making. That is because there's still the touch of cyan next to the sun to create contrast instead of looking realistic. I'll definitely keep that in mind when I intend to make an artwork of a sunset in the future.
