Oh, thanks for the quick feedback, mate!
I noticed there's been some regards to the backgrounds with those frames. Hmmm is it the frame you found distracting or the desert dunes?

I really love the color sceme you used for this image! The furry edges of the clothes are great. They look so fluffy and soft. I also like the fine stich lines and the engravings on the belt. They add some nice detail to it.
I just feel like there is something weird about the angle of his leg (on the left) just underneath his knee. I think the curve is a bit too exaggerated. Also, the tail starts a bit high, I think, but besides that it's a great overall image.

Aww thank you so much for returning the critique, it's very appreciated.
I think you spotted some details there that haven't caught my eye yet. The knee is probably too rounded and the kneecap isn't poking out as I would do it usually, so thanks for noticing, I hope I can keep that in mind the next time I have such a round - shaped pose. The tail does look a little too high placed too, just as you said. I sadly don't have the original sketch so I could look up if I placed it right and the clothing is just hiding the proper connection.
Thanks for the feedback!

Ohh the chin ^v^Well that's on my account; I like to have very vivid lines and thus often bend arm and knee structures despite the anatomical accurateness. I like this sweet middle in between comical exaggerated and realistically rendered appeal and do what I can to make it look more natural and less like an experiment ^v^

Quite a blade indeed!
Danbuster himself carries a sabre when it comes to fighting, even if in his sideline as a crimefighter, he tends to aim for non-lethal takedowns than actually aiming to kill a criminal...
Thanks!

Souvillaine In reply to DCLeadboot [2019-01-08 19:39:54 +0000 UTC]
Hmmm well you could think about a sabre / taser combination to have both a sword (kind of) and a non lethal weapon for crimes. Or what about a cannon that shoots shackles? A police dog which brings the criminals directly to prison?
Ideas, ideas, ideas...

Hi there and thank you, Marek, for your comment! ^v^
I'm glad you like my artwork and the outfit I put my character in. And yes I was thinking about adding some ambience light but that kinda ruined the contrast i was going for with this.
I think you could try out an Ottoman worrier as well, I believe you haven't done something quite like that before, am I right?

Yeah, that contrast is definitely nice for the design presentation. ^^
I probably could, and it would be the first time I tried to design an outfit like that, but designing is the last thing I wanna do right now honestly. xD

Ooh this looks so cool! The first thing that caught my eye here was the fuzz on the coat it looks really good and rathe realistic plus the texturizing on it looks pretty nice to I must say. With that as well if like all the various patterns and beading on the clothes plus with that the engraving on the belt is a rather nice touch as well. With that as well I really enjoy how you did the hands and face, just the kinda scraggly sharpness to it is pretty cool. But ya all in all nice job!

Thanks for your words, mate, I'm very glad you like this one so much!
I figured this fur must stand out from the rest of the image... a little too much if I must admit. I don't really like how I draw short, fluffy hair lately and sadly take the alternative which... admittedly looks quite nice but in comparison seems somewhat alien on my character.
I'll try to work on a solution to find a comprehensive style for this technique...
Do you have any ideas of mixing some clothing designs for your character? I'm curious.
I wish you a nice day!

Ah gotcha I see what you mean, ya it is rather ever gabbing but I don't think it really retracts anything. I think it kinda depends on the environment and a few othe factors if that make any sense. XD Regardless it'll be cool to see what you try out.

I was just online when I saw you post this so I decided to give some instant feedback :^). I really find this fantastic. The colour scheme is large without feeling garish. Orange-green-purple colour combination is difficult to pull off, but I feel like you certainly have done that. One thing I find to be just a bit off is the fur on his clothing. Compared to the rest of the style, the fur being smudged and without outline feels, to me personally, a bit out of place.
Otherwise I don't really have much to complain about. The background is simple but its colour complements the green clothes and connects well to the orange hair-do. Also, it brings the character to the spotlight. The pose is stable and robust, but the wind on his hair adds dynamicity to the work.
Well done my dude

Thank you very much for your quick and honest feedback! I can certainly say it is helpful to hear it coming from you!
I'm quite happy that I managed to pull of the colour scheme since I didn't really thought this through when I headed over to it, giving it very mixed colours at first: the fur being white, the stripes red and scarf, bandages and the waist being purple... well it wasn't very nice. I showed it to a friend and he luckily pointed out to me that I should simply use a desaturated green for the secondaries and I came to the conclusion to lower the value and saturation of the stripes significantly. Otherwise this wouldn't have worked, I fear. I still believe a red tone for the greens here would have looked better but I'm happy with the result... dragging my hair into view for once
Apropos hair; I figured this change in style would look distracting. And honestly, I am not really sure what to do about it. I was happy to do fluffy and curvy hair like that before but since I had to change the program I use for drawing, I kinda suck at flowy hairstyles. The borderless and soft fur texture is something I favoured over a my dull looking outlines...
I already have two solutions to this in mind... the style, that is: One, sketch with much thinner lines and two: try to paint underneath them. I'll see how far I can go with this, although I don't really want to sacrifice my original lining technique for something new that's based of someone else's style. But trying can't hurt, maybe I can find the perfect in-between.
Thanks again for your feedback, I'll try to return the favour once you submit your new artwork!

You're welcome! I just want to be encouraging and give feedback if I possibly can. You're the nicest person I've seen on this platform, so it's only appropriate : ) .
I can share my perspectives as to the colour usage and theory, and you can ignore it if you want, or at least take it with a grain of salt :^) . Colours are complex and there definitely isn't a single right way to do those.
I don't know if this is something you already know or if it's even useful, but having just woken up I felt like rambling a bit.
When it comes to colours, there are quite a few things to keep in mind. Usually the colours that best go together are either near each other, or complementary colours. The reason for that I don't know, but it's something that humans in general seem to prefer. (orange-blue movie and video game posters are so commonplace it's ridiculous, like google "orange blue poster" and check the images. It's a meme) Orange-green-purple forms a sort of triangle shape on the colour wheel so they are neither close to each other nor complementary. For most people the combination doesn't look very harmonious. That's not to say that you can't use those colours since you definitely did succeed in using them, but those sorts of combinations are hard to use.
Also, how I see it, very saturated or bright colours pop out a lot, so they should really be reserved for things you want to draw attention to. If there are too many saturated elements they start to be detrimental to each other. That's due to the fact that all the colours affect each other. For instance, in comparison to some desaturated colour a bright red looks massively more saturated than compared to some other, equally saturated colour. Very saturated colours aren't very common in the real world so they become hard on the eyes if used too much. Also, it is good to keep in mind that this isn't limited to only saturation, but the hue and brightness as well. Placed next to a green object, a red ball will look 'more red' because they are complementary colours. These quirks can be in your favour or against you depending on the situation, but I think it's something worthwhile to acknowledge and keep in mind.
Again, this is very rambly and probably something you most likely already know :^), so let me know if that comment was uncalled for. I try to be conscious of the choices I make in my drawings, and trying to find out why some things work better than others.

Yeah, I already know about the colour theory; learned with James Gourney's Book of Colour and Light, which really helped me to get into the understanding of it
But nevertheless, I want to say a big: 'AWWW' to you for giving me that compliment, it really means a lot to be called 'the nicest person you've seen on this platform' and I'd work hard to maintain to keep this title ^)v(^
by the way, I can really recommend James Gourney's Colour and Light and Imaginative Realism, which should be very useful to any painter, not just of the traditional medium.
