That's good. Practice with anything you've got. I learned from books first, so don't be afraid to pick up a drawing book and go through the steps.

My teacher has me practice from real life, which I do constantly each first period..

That's good. Is it an art teacher for first period? Is it basic art and drawing (covers everything in general) or a specific class?

Kinda general. And yes, an art teacher whose been working for a long time. She teaches art, and painting and pottery.
