Our so-called leaders prostituted us to the Cardassians. Our blood has been spilt on our soil. They are the invaders. All Cardassians, civilian and military, must leave the DMZ immediately. Or suffer the consequences.

Disgusted by the federation council’s incompetence at protecting their people in the DMZ, Captain Sisko asks the Galactic Republic for help and to his surprise, Chancellor Palpatine is more than happy to provide help. If the Federation would look the other way while the Cardassian’s committed countless atrocities against their own people, then Sisko wanted no part of it. The Federation chose appeasement. The Republic had a much different message for the Cardassians: All Cardassians must leave or be destroyed.
