Description It's amazing what a little bit of paint will do. Since the TakaraTomy version of the Vehicon figure lacked so many paint apps, I decided to add some minor paint touch ups to the figure to make certain details pop.

Even though I used a really fine-tipped paint brush and tried to keep a steady hand with even, slow brush strokes, I still messed up a few times and had to wipe/scrape away excess paint. Such a pain in the ass that took so much time, but I'm pretty satisfied with how smooth the paint applications are.

I mixed together a custom blend of pinish-purple using several acrylic paints and used to to add in the "highlights"/light effects that Vehicon alt modes have in the show.

I also applied red paint to the figure for the slit/mouth, painted his exhaust pipes silver, and used a Reprolabel sticker for the Decepticon emblem on its chest since I didn't like how the foil sticker looked.

I'm wondering if I should get the AM-14 or just get the PRID version. I am really starting to like the AM line... which is funny considering how at first I was thrown off by the ports just ruining the vehicle modes and the stickers instead of paint apps. Hmmm..

What does the blaster Transform into? For some reason on the package it only shows the Gun mode... I can't see it's Robot/Creature mode.

I got the AM version because it was cheaper and, although it lacks paint apps, came with the Micron. The ports they added onto the Vehcion aren't too bad/noticeable. The ports on the front of the car near the headlights aren't as glaringly obvious as some of the ports I've seen on other figures. The port they added to the vehicle's rear is also pretty clever since it looks like the thruster on Batman's Batmobile.

Noji is supposed to turn into a boar. I thought I was going to hate the Micron based on the photos I saw of the packaging when I looked at online retailers since, for the most part, all you do is flip it's legs for its transformation to pass it off as a critter, but the 'lil guy is actually pretty neat. The only way you can tell it's a boar is due to the tusk details and the triangular shape of its snout. There's also some nice spike detailing along the ridge of its back to help make it look like a boar too.

Yeah the ports don't look as bad at all as some of the others. (Bumblebee... Ratchet... ughhh) And yeah I heard about the Batmobile engine/port on the back. Pretty cool.

I'm wondering If I should get this an Jet Vehicon. Since that one might not appear over here also.. Hmm...

I'm not sure if I want the jet Vehicon. The pinkinsh-purple on it is pretty awful. It's one thing to add some paint apps to a figure, but I don't want to do a full repaint just for it to have show-accurate colors.

I might want to get some of the individual Microns if I get the chance. I really like some of the Decepticon ones.

I'm not sure if those are the final colors though. I don't know why they would have those colors on it. But I don't know. If I order multiple figures I save on shipping. So I'm thinking of getting a few at once. Or at least the two Vehicons.

I'm kind of interested in the Silas Breakdown figure. I may save up to get the AM version, if the US even gets this mold, because of the cool mantis/claw Micron.

I'm still painting this figure. I've been applying some detail work both the Vehicon and Noji that I have to tidy up. I've also got to mix some paint up to match the purple used on the figure to paint his shins. I hate stickers.

Surprisingly I don't hate the stickers. I actually kinda like building the Micron and applying the stickers. And they seem to hold well enough. (Or at least for now. Who knows in a few years) So yeah. I ended up warming up the the Arms Micron line. When originally I thought it was crap they had less paint apps, stickers, and awful ports everywhere. Huh.. go figure...

And this makes me kind of happy. Hopefully it'll something that actually interests me. I usually only got their faction logo stickers, since a lot of the sets I can do without or look silly.

Already ordered my set last week and actually got em in the mail today.

Even though I don't have the figure. Though again they aren't for me. Same as Breakdown.

Oh, I was talking about the question I had that I linked directly to where the guy that helped design Reprolabel's Knockout set replied.

Ahh.

I hope they do a sheet for PRID Arcee. I want her pink...

I don't mind the stickers on the Mircons, since they're pretty much Gunpla kits, but this is one of those times where Hasbro's paint apps beats out TakaraTomy's, which isn't often. If they had included stickers for every detail that they left unpainted, then I probably would be a bit happier, but that's probably not feasible.

Also, those stickers won't last forever and will eventually lose their tackiness and fall off or will leave grime and residue on the plastic when you want to remove them for replacement stickers (if those are ever made), so in the end, the stickers are still bad for me.

Yeah. We will have to see how the stickers hold up. It's possible they can last. There are plenty of Minty G1 figures out there with their stickers. So who knows. Like I was saying it's actually kinda fun applying them. It's like you are having a part in it. Or maybe it is just me.. lol

One thing I want to counter is you say the stickers are less then the paint apps. I have to disagree. For the most part even though they might not be as good long term as the paint apps they seem to have MORE or better. For example. Bulkhead, he has Window Stickers and door detail stickers. Hasbro? Just painted green.. ugh..

And Arcee? PINK! Pink Highlights! So.. Hasbro cheapening out on the paint apps lately isn't helping either. I think they both have their strengths and weaknesses.

I'm actually one of the few people that don't like the pink highlights on Arcee haha

I'm not saying all the stickers are bad, but a lot of them seem unnecessary and I don't like most of them compared to the paint apps that Hasbro's versions have. I like the ones that serve as subtle accents that aren't glaringly obvious, like the stickers on the headlights.

Examples of the stickers that I don't like would be the use of a sticker on the Vehicon's chest. It looks out of place and you can't even place the sticker on the internal, silver bit because you'd have to physically remove the clear plastic that goes over it. There's also the pieces that go over and wrap around the shins.

Also, for the vehicle mode, they don't paint in the little markings on the side of the car near the headlights. They give you stickers for the markings right next to the lights, but they're not even cut precisely enough to go into the depressions, so those areas leave some minor gaps (I'm nitpicky with details). Also, even though they give you the stickers in favor of paint, they don't give you anything for the markings under the ones right next to the headlights.

Well I don't have Vehicon (yet) so I can't say for sure. But I get what you mean I think. Arcee's back lights for example... it's supposed to be 3 separate ones. Like Reprolabels did it right. Takara has the two lower ones but not the upper single one. But for some reason they didn't cut them out and just stuck them on this huge square you are supposed to stick the whole square one. It just looks... really tacky and bad. So I didn't put it. I'll cut them out myself and fix something up.

But I actually like that she has the Pink. It's more accurate. So.. well whatever.

But like I said when you compare the PRID Bulkhead to the AM one it just looks so different to me. The stickers for the windows really helps define it. Not to mention his Rims are painted silver... yet Hasbro leaves theirs black?

I know Reprolabels just did a sheet for PRID Bulk and gave him windows and stuff. So that helps a lot too. So who knows. But I just really am liking the AM's... which I didn't think I would have a care for them. The extra details of some of them (like Bulks Windows and Arcee's pink) is just really doing it for me. And again as I said I like putting the Micron's together and applying stickers...
