Description While taking a shot of the girls in kimonos going into the shrine I ended up getting the girls in modern clothes coming out too.

Yasaka shrine in the Gion district, Kyoto, Japan. November 2009~

fffff It looks like they're wearing yukata! Crazy girls. Anyway, this is a really cool chance shot. The girl second from the left looks kind of like one of my friends. So odd. Lovely photo~

I think they are wearing them! Although this was in November so it might have been kind of cold for that. Still they looked pretty lightweight.

Yeaaaah I was wondering about that. All of my exchange student friends here [in Minnesota] always say late September/early October feels like winter in Japan. But then again they're mostly from the Tokyo area; I guess Kyoto must be a bit more mild.

It was pretty cold there, although this was on a nice sunny day and not too bad chill-wise. I remember Kyoto as being slightly colder than Tokyo, actually, but it was getting more into November by the time we got to that city so it could have just been winter setting in.

It's like two different time periods meeting. That's so cool! What a lucky shot!
I like the gray scale's effect with the rest of the picture.

Right after I took the shot I was like, 'boo, other girls got in the way' but I like it better this way!
I couldn't make the colors look good - had a wacky setting on and I took the shot fast, so I went with the grayscale.

I see. Well, misfortune's smile was a good thing in the end. Color would have nice, but the gray scale plays more on the time period differences with the clothing (which gives it an interesting vibe).
