Time | The snow in North Region is still going, but by now it's becoming winter everywhere so that seems to make it more easy to handle. After Having Glendower and Iorek fall in love right in front of her eyes.

Place | just outside North Region Camp

Summary | Akarui finishes her work for the day as the sun sets, but despite that she doesn't want to go to sleep. She and Dolorosa, instead, decide to watch the stars from a more advantageous spot. While there they both speak of their feelings for one another when Dolorosa asks if Akarui wants to be her mate. Akarui accepts, and then admits to wanting a huge celebration.

”Good evening my Love.” Dolorosa smiled as she noticed her significant other sitting outside the den of the members of the Northern Region. It had been a little while since Dolorosa and Akarui officially became a thing now, it was nice to know that they shared each other’s feelings and not only that, but the fact that Dolorosa was falling more and more in love with the red she-cat everyday only fueled the thought of asking her to be her mate one day. The sky was a deep black sea blue, stars splattering its canvas like surface with twinkling white and visible clusters of other stars, the Milky Way, appearing like a giant cloud in the sky- stretching over its surface. There was a cool breeze, not freezing like most nights lately, but a calm relaxed wind that seemed to swim amongst the land and trees of the North Region. The tawny she-cat approached Akarui, her long whiskers twitching as she pressed her nose to the russet spotted she-cat’s shoulder and sitting beside her.

”Did you want to go to sleep” The cream she-cat asked, her tail finding her partners as she leaned into the red she-cat, her body fitting into her own like her missing puzzle piece. Dolorosa was tired- she had been hunting all day, but she would do anything as long as Akarui was there.

Akarui let out a breath she hadn't known she had been holding, like a deep sigh of contentment, in response to Dolorosa's presense. Dolla's being here, with her, was new and something still to adjust to not because Akarui didn't love it but because she loved every moment of it she still kept thinking she would wake up any second. It was rather like that of a fairy tale, to have the cat she thought would never forget her crimes be the one cat she fell in love with....

Surprisingly, the clan seemed to take it pretty well. Or maybe Akarui had simply misjudged how much they would care. As it happened, she realized now they cared little of whom she spent her time with and how she spent that time. Perhaps it had been foolish in her first place to think that even amidst everything else the region was facing the other northeners would care about something so petty as who was with who. If it was anybody else, Akarui knew even she wouldn't have cared. Other than when Glendower, who was her best friend, got a mate she had never given two cats more than a congratulatory nod and thought nothing of it.

But this was her, and this was Dolorosa, she turned to look at her and smiled immediately. That was something she found was a reflex now to seeing Dolla by her side.

"I don't know, it IS a rare night in that it's not snowing and clear enough to see the stars. I was kinda thinking about staying out." She meowed, looking at her and adding "But if you need some sleep I'd totally understand. I could come join you in a second? I'm betting your new apprentice kept you running around hunting all day long."

The tawny she-cat’s soft gaze turned to an upright smile. She loved how Akarui wasn’t like the other cats. She was… so much more passionate and beautiful and prefered odd things and- she didn’t even know for sure anymore, but she adored everything about the red she-cat. ”Star gazing it is.” Dolorosa purred, licking Akarui over the ear, sitting up from her spot, waiting for her ‘girlfriend’ to lead the way. ”I don’t want to sleep, I want to stay up with you.” Her sunset eyes soft with admiration. The mention of her apprentice made Dolorosa snort, ”Eh- the kid doesn’t push me too hard so far.” Dolorosa had only met him the other day, and boy was he a handful, but she figured she could break that cocky attitude with some hard labor, watching her apprentice work hard was enough to make her exhausted. But Dolorosa wanted to spend every waking moment with Akarui, as though she could disappear at any moment, like a vision or like most things in Dolorosa’s life.

”Where do you want to go?” Dolorosa smiled, her tail brushing against Akarui as she came up beside her.

It was nice that the region cared little about their same-sex relationship, in fact, most were happy that Akarui had found something to help her even on her darkest days.

Akarui smiled, because even though she was more than alright with Dolorosa going back to the nest if that was the need she was far happier to have the company on a night like tonight, where sky was perfectly clear and the crisp night air of the snowy weather caused the stars to shine with a brilliance she could not compare to anything else in the world. Everything else was so far behind it, everything except a certain she cat whom she considered not even on teh same league of the stars. Dolla's eyes had a brilliance that even the stars couldn't match, and Aka loved when they looked at her with that one expression. She couldn't match it, explain it nor did she try to. . . but there was some way in the flicker of Dolla's smile, or maybe the light in her eyes, that said something more than words could and it always ignited Akarui's own feelings in return. It was love, but she'd be hiding part of it if she didn't say it was also passion.

"Not to far I suppose... Just outside of camp should be clear enough to see them better. I use to love watching the stars when I was little, when I literally thought the world of them. " She paused, thinking of those she had known and lost. "Now I realize it's a little more half and half. I can enjoy seeing them, knowing cats I loved once are there.... but I can also enjoy being here and doing something worthy of being watched." she said, and she didn't worry to whether it made full sense to Dolla since she was trying to describe feelings that words weren't always able to do. Most of the time, her girl friend seemed to understand anyway. As if they had a language within their movements that only one another understood. Some things Akarui found Dolla understanding without words or reason, and she just accepted that as something unexplainable. As she got older, she found there was far less she could explain and more questions she would never be able to answer. Funny how life is like that, when as a kit she looked to adults and was sure they knew the answer to everything and that she'd be like that one day.

Akarui and Dolla walked towards the area outside of camp, the stars gleaming and sparkling, but they would never compare to her eyes. The time the two had been spending together had never filled Dolorosa with more happiness, she could stay like this forever. Even with all the chaos in the Regions, she knew it would be alright as long as Akarui was alright.
The thought of the stars and those she had lost, Dolorosa couldn’t help but fear that Akarui could also be swept away and end up watching her from the night sky. But the thought was so heart breaking, Dolorosa shook it away. Nothing would ever take Akarui away… Dolorosa would never allow it.
She couldn’t help but turn and stare at her her significant other, eyes full of admiration for her and her beauty. Her tail curled until it met Akarui’s, holding the thin tail in an embrace. ”Akarui… I want to ask you…”
Dolorosa felt her heart skip, ”Do you want to… do you want to be my mate?” the words sounded so less romantic outloud then they had in her head, but Dolorosa could only sit and stare at Akarui, face flushed, eyes wide in wonder. ”I know we haven’t been together long… but… I am madly in love with you… and I want to spend every waking moment with you by my side… if that is something you want as well.” she gulped, quivering slightly.

Akarui had been allowing this time together to be one where they could just be, without the worries and stress this ceeaseless snow had caused to fall upon the region. She allowed herself to just fully embrace this moment, each blissfully sweet and thankfully calm moment of it. Closing her eyes for a second to breathe in the fresh air for a second she let out a happy sigh. Things were not getting better for the region, but they were certainly getting better for her within it. When Dolorosa spoke up, Akarui could only nod, honestly a little surprised Dolla asked if she was allowed when there was no question she could ask that Akarui wouldn't be happy to answer for her. Her life was no secret, and wanted to live life openly now and truly learn from her mistakes while also hopefulyl helping others avoid them.

" Do you want to be my mate?"

Her lavander eyes widened in surprise, and her mouth opened just slightly as she tried to grasp for words in a moment where she found herself having none to say. Not that she didn't assume her eyes already spoke the answer, the way her mouth was now tugging itself in the corners into a hufe loving smile. Perhaps words where just the last part that came to her while she listened to Dolorosa speak words Akarui knew felt similar to her own. It was always something that shocked Akarui personally, to think that she could feel so strongly about someone and then to try and grasp that they felt the same way. To think her love, and as oerwhelming and beautiful that was, was the same feelings and intensity that sparked in Dolorosa's heart as well.

"I want you. All of you, to much some times even." She said with a light laugh, before looking to Dolorosa again. But in all seriousness of course. I know this time was for us to get to know one another as a couple and seeif this whole thing worked but I feel like I would know you through and through with my eyes closed, as well if not better than I know myself adn I know I love you."

The few heartbeats it took Akarui to reply were brutal for Dolorosa. She could feel her soul on fire and her paws pleading to run away out of fear the answer would be the worst. Would she be denied? Akarui seemed to care for her as much as she did her- perhaps they would feel ready to be together, or maybe Akarui was spending the moment coming up with an excuse to avoid the mateship request.
Dolorosa felt like she was holding her breath for a million years, waiting, wishing, praying Akarui would love her the same way.

"I want you.

That was all Dolorosa wanted to hear. The she-cat's once serious face turned to a huge smile and a wetness swelled over her pretty ember eyes. The tears spilled over and ran down the she-cat's face, but the smile remains followed by a deep and passionate laughter starting in her belly.
All these years, suffering, alone, judging whether she made the right decision. After Theus, her mentor, and past love interest, mated with her sister and admitted his lack of feelings for her, she thought her life was over! How silly was it to think that sort of attraction even compared in the slightest to how Dolorosa felt about Akarui. After Theus and her sister's death, her sadness was overwhelming, that sadness turned to udder suffering once her nephew's passing. It was then that she moved to North Region, and she had never on her life felt happiness like this.

"I only want you for the rest of my life..." Dolorosa began to wipe her tears away, embarrassed in a sense, but once the moment settled, Dolorosa pressed her lips to Akarui's eye lids and whispered,
"I love you my sweet Flower. You and only you for the rest of my days."
Once Dolorosa whispered, she felt a sudden calmness and serenity come over her, and she nuzzled her new mate.

I will never feel pain again, not with you in my life Akarui.

Akarui kissed back, delighting in the worms that writhed in her stomach as Dolorosa kissed her and yet, as bad as that sounds, it was a deliriously good feeling. Passion meant very little to the auburn she cat who had always preferred to dream of love and romanticism but now that she was with Dolorosa she could embrace the twining of the two. She loved Dolla, but could not except the passionate desire she felt for her as well. Two toes on the same paw they where what helped move her along each day. She Loved Dolorosa's laugh, loved seeing that for once she didn't always have to be the blubbering cry baby she and grown up being. She had always been that to her family, and it hadn't gotten better as they had all died one by one either. By the time her mom committed suicide she had known what it was like to lose everything, but now that bitter memory was like fresh snow, cold to the touch but some how refreshing. She knew she was so much more than she could have ever been for her time after that, and for healing herself. She could have never gotten someone as special as Dolorosa if she had stayed that insecure, that pitiful. She empathized, of course, with the she cat she had been before it seemed like a lifetime ago. Like someone else altogether and yet even still she could see the similarities.

"If you do, feel pain I mean, I'd be right there. I think your beautifully strong Dolorosa.... I, I have always admired that about you as something I seemed to lack within myself." She meowed, embarrassed smile at admitting things that she rarely even let herself think. Somehow, even in knowing she wouldn't be judged by the beautiful sand coloured tabby she still felt guilt in speaking such things. "but I've lived through enough tragedy to know how hard, how painful, life can be... So I don't want you thinking you have to always be strong. I am stronger now, for once I can say I would gladly help shoulder some of your burdens, should you ever have them."

And of the region? They had accepted them as girlfriends with ease and smiles, but selfishly Akarui wanted more. It was a terribly ill feeling, she was sure, like something close to sin and yet she knew she had to accept it. Her love for Dolorosa was not something she wanted accepted with simple smiles, she wanted to scream it through the ages and let everyone accompany her. She wanted-

"Could we not announce it though? not yet I mean, I mean, I want to, I just want to-" She looked for the right words to describe what she wanted.

"I want to declare that I can love you with this heart of mine in a place where all the region can see and rejoice. Maybe it's weird, or selfish, to want to show it off but I want it to be grand, a momentous occasion for everyone since it seems to big within my own life to be simply witnessed by my ancestors."

Akarui's voice was like the flutter of butterflies as they frantically flew in her belly.
"If you want to, we can declare our love to the whole world. We can declare out love to the heavens and back!" Dolorosa's voice which had started off soft and quite was now loud with excitement. Her voice rang over the area causing a few birds to take off from their roost. Dolla laughed lightheartedly and turned to Akarui. "You've made me the happiest she-cat in all of the universe. Thank you Akarui." She smiled to Akarui, those lovely eyes, she could fall forever in them.
"We'll talk to Iorek tomorrow. Maybe he will agree to letting us have a celebration. Although, I think the others will be jealous of our unity." Dolorosa winked and nuzzled her new found mate. She knew this would last forever.
"Are you ready to go home?" she purred, her tail finding Akarui's and holding it in a gentle twine.

"If you do, feel pain I mean, I'd be right there. I think your beautifully strong Dolorosa.... I, I have always admired that about you as something I seemed to lack within myself." She meowed, embarrassed smile at admitting things that she rarely even let herself think. Somehow, even in knowing she wouldn't be judged by the beautiful sand coloured tabby she still felt guilt in speaking such things. "but I've lived through enough tragedy to know how hard, how painful, life can be... So I don't want you thinking you have to always be strong. I am stronger now, for once I can say I would gladly help shoulder some of your burdens, should you ever have them."

And of the region? They had accepted them as girlfriends with ease and smiles, but selfishly Akarui wanted more. It was a terribly ill feeling, she was sure, like something close to sin and yet she knew she had to accept it. Her love for Dolorosa was not something she wanted accepted with simple smiles, she wanted to scream it through the ages and let everyone accompany her. She wanted-

"Could we not announce it though? not yet I mean, I mean, I want to, I just want to-" She looked for the right words to describe what she wanted.

"I want to declare that I can love you with this heart of mine in a place where all the region can see and rejoice. Maybe it's weird, or selfish, to want to show it off but I want it to be grand, a momentous occasion for everyone since it seems to big within my own life to be simply witnessed by my ancestors."

Akarui's voice was like the flutter of butterflies as they frantically flew in her belly.
"If you want to, we can declare our love to the whole world. We can declare out love to the heavens and back!" Dolorosa's voice which had started off soft and quite was now loud with excitement. Her voice rang over the area causing a few birds to take off from their roost. Dolla laughed lightheartedly and turned to Akarui. "You've made me the happiest she-cat in all of the universe. Thank you Akarui." She smiled to Akarui, those lovely eyes, she could fall forever in them.
"We'll talk to Iorek tomorrow. Maybe he will agree to letting us have a celebration. Although, I think the others will be jealous of our unity." Dolorosa winked and nuzzled her new found mate. She knew this would last forever.
"Are you ready to go home?" she purred, her tail finding Akarui's and holding it in a gentle twine.
