Yeah, that's strange. I also wonder why haven't we met any Collectors if there is a statement in the Codex that they are still used by the Reapers during the war.

Spot on. Tali is just arm candy and should be left on the ship to be cute and all that!! And bringing along Thane who sadly is no where near as awesome in combat as his assassination cut scene leads you to believe is a sure bet to losing the fight!! ALWAYS BET ON GARRUS AND GRUNT!!!!

Only in game. Tali, and most Quarians, by canon are actually good in combat. Not warriors necessarily, but Quarians do receive training and repel Batarian slavers and pirates on a regular basis. To say that any Quarian is merely "arm candy" or "eye candy" is a complete insult. They can do more than most anyone gives them credit for.

Wow, I read how people take delight in teasing Quarian fanboys/girls cause of how easily riled up they get not to mention defensive and I see there is truth to it!! Dude relax. Say what you want about Quarians being great fighters (Yet Geth whooped their ass with little effort >:-p) but Tali IS there for one purpose only and you know it. thane at least has his Warp which is somewhat useful. Tali has zip except her cute persona!!

halofan11 In reply to RompeX23 [2012-01-03 15:00:25 +0000 UTC]
OgierXtheDane is right. Quarians have been forced to work on their close quarters combat since the Morning War. They face regular attacks from pirates and slavers, who do manage to board their ships. They take few if any prisoners which is a rarity too.
Quarians are forced to rely on their suits, those being what keep them from dying of infection. They also do not fight open wars like all the other races. They don't have the numbers for that. Comparing a Quarian to a Turian or Krogan is hardly a good comparison. Quarians prefer quick strike ops, inserting, securing the objective, and extracting quickly.
You also site the Geth a lot. Haestrom was a horrible operation. The Geth dropped on the Quarians before any of them could react. Those that you see were the survivors trying to hold their position or fall back to Reegar, who was defending Tali. They didn't have much time to set up and sort of defenses and they were overwhelmed. Shepard had the drop on the Geth, managing to kill a few before they even knew he was on the world. The flotilla is another example. No one but Rael and his team knew what they were doing. The marines were sent in to figure out exactly what was happening and stop it. They were ambushed by the Geth and forced to retreat. You see no Geth bodies because they would rebuild. Don't cite Prazza either. He was not a marine and he also lost the life of his squad because of a single minded hatred for Cerberus.
I think I have covered it all from the games. Just let me know if I missed anything.

Oh and Quarians don't take prisoners for the very same reason why the Quarian Flotilla does not have a penal system. Quarian prisoners don't exist on the Flotilla not because they are so vicious or awesome fighters but because they cannot sustain a population that isn't working and contributing to the fleet like a prisoner sitting on his ass in a cell doing nothing. That's why Quarians actually deposit their criminals and prisoners (if any) on planets first chance they get if they are not executed. Which to defend the Quarians on this is actually completely fair in their Flotilla situation.

Rompe is quite clearly trolling, might as well stop replying to him.
Quarians are more capable than most humans - they get trained in combat as has been mentioned before. But Tali is actually one of the above-average Quarians. She's defended herself countless times (when you find her in ME, and when you first meet her in ME2, and countless other times).
Personally, she's amazing with a Graal Shotgun, ALL her abilities are epic.
-Combat drone gives the enemy something to worry about.
-Sabotage fucks up turrets, synthetics and stops Marauders/Cannibals from shooting temporarily.
-Energy Drain is really useful against Marauders and Banshees, and virtually every cerberus trooper.
Let's face it, she has really useful abilities, and she's epic with her shotgun.
And yes, she has fun dialogue and is a sexy companion.

I just want to add one tiny factor into this Rompe: You keep saying how the Quarians where beaten by the Geth, yes they were but look at this from another angle, say if it was you or me and it was this era. The Geth uprising would be like every TV in the world sprouting an ak47 and going butt wild on everyone around, then repair/upgrade themselves as they went, think for a minuite about that, I know most households in the western world have between 1 and 4 tv's in them so do that math. Considering that, the Quarians did very well. Next the Quarians DO win fights, (thus how they research them at the flotilla which causes that loyalty mission in ME2).
As halofan fan stated comparing a Quarian to a Krogan is...well dumb, for lack of a better word, yes a race of war-like simpletons (remember they didn't discover their tech it was given by the Salarians) who only exist to have sex, fight, and boast ARE by definition gonna beat a technology based race. Just saying.

Thane's Warp is a very valuable asset when your fighting Harbinger/Scions though, or any heavy armor thing really.
Personally either Thane/Garrus (for machine enemy levels) or Thane/Grunt (For lots of fighting) or Garrus/Grunt (for the sad times before you can get Thane)
