Liorou of the Sun Lynx tribe is a priest to the goddess Veidh and a lorekeeper of his tribe. His goddess, also called Green Maiden, is a deity of nature, life and death of my setting. Born a mistwalker, Liorou wields the ability to enter an in-between plane of existence called by his people the Endless Ridge. It is something of a limbo plane, home to the goddess Veidh and to the souls of dying life forms passing to their next state.

The Sun Lynx tribe hunting grounds span across most of Duine Vale. Liorou is the residing priest of Green Maiden in Duinegal, a settlement in Duine Vale built around a rangers guild. He welcomes all people in his flock, Maddyrian or not.
His service entails providing spiritual guidance to the living and the dead alike. Despite the grim nature of his role as a psychopomp, Liorou has quite an optimistic and hopeful disposition. He sees his responsibility in the microcosm of his tribe to remind the bloodthirsty bunch to cherish and respect the wonder of life. His faith’s philosophy is that there’s no reward for good deeds nor punishment for bad ones, and all that counts is the life you have right now and the tribe you live with. Once you cross the Endless Ridge, there’s no return to what you’ve known, not even “you” anymore really, so make the most of your life while you’re here.

Personality wise, he is a practical and opportunistic person, no less empathetic. He has a penchant for diplomacy and would probably do well in the big world if he cared to leave his small commune in Duinegal. He spent a decent chunk of his youth buried in birch scrolls with the secret witch language, learning about herbs and rituals. Yet, he can also very much hold his own in a fight as any self-respecting Maddyrian tribesperson, and is skilled with bow.

His mother Eira was a priestess and a mistwalker as well and taught him almost everything he knows. Eira had always been secretive about Liorou’s father. She claimed he was a gift from her goddess and Liorou just accepted that. It wasn’t anything unusual since Maddyrians don’t do nuclear families anyway and kids are raised by the whole tribe. The fact his father wasn’t Maddyrian was the only unusual thing. As aroace person, Liorou would rather avoid having children of his own, and stick to the found family.
