I draw the pages by hand and ink them and my sister colours them and finishes them. It takes a few hours for the complete process, but it depends on how much detail is in it and if it needs a lot of references for the map and the weapons. It's usually not something that is done in one sitting.

I've been reading this comic from the very beginning, but... there is something that has been bothering me :/
I get that the stars of this comic are the REDs, and the protagonists are supposed to win. But still, I can't help feeling that the BLUs are coming across as *incompetents*. They are embarassingly pathetic, plain pushovers. And that's just not right.
Both Teams are supposed to be higly-skilled professionals. Conflict is necessary for any decent story, and there is no conflict if one side is outright steamrolling the other.
Even if the REDs are supposed to win, it should at least be a hard-earned victory, not a "steal candies from babies" one... A hero is only as cool as his villain: Sherlock Holmes vs Professor Moriarty, Batman vs Joker, Luke Skywalker vs Darth Vader. Here, it's RED Team VS a bunch of dumbasses in blue clothes.
I mean, seriously, so far the only RED death we have seen was Soldier, and he killed himself.

Actually, the Soldier got pegged by a crit BLU pipe at the start of that match. From then on, RED seemed to have some trouble holding their stand on Granary (I think that was supposed to be Granary anyway... that or Dustbowl...) right up until the Sniper took out the BLU Medic, allowing for the REDs to finally take the upper-hand and win.
Specifically the Demoman, Scout, and Engineer were at odds with BLU during that match and mainly survived because of proper team support, so BLU team does seem to be able to keep the pressure on the REDs insofar. I guess what really doesn't help with this perception is that we just keep seeing one-hit kill moves as performed by head-shots, a decapitation, and now a proper back-stab.
We haven't seen a counter-sniper yet and that one BLU Spy seemed to be more interested in trading information rather than an actual mission objective for whatever reason (yay, exposition?), so maybe those 'same league' archetypes will come in later for plot specifics.

Watch the Meet the Team videos some time. He's just following canon.

I'm very familiar with TF2 canon.
But the Meet The Team videos show off a specific cool moment for each class. They are 8 short videos that happen in different points in time, not a single long movie with RED victory after RED victory after RED victory etc etc.
If the BLUs lost all the time, there would be no war, the REDs would have won it long ago. Indeed, several of the official comics star the BLUs and let them kick ass.
Making a series of vignettes where the REd Team utterly obliterates the BLU Team is one thing, it leaves open the possibility that the BLUs are getting some wins off-screen (which is necessary to keep the war on-going). But this fancomic is 51-pages-long already and we haven't seen a single BLU show anything remotely resembling competence.
...And isn't Spacerocketbunny a woman?

snowskeeper In reply to JaneGray [2012-05-28 21:42:52 +0000 UTC]
I don't recall any actual fighting within the comics. Usually, they drop off before any serious violence begins. With the exception of the Saxton Hale comics, of course... In the Meet the Team videos, BLU always fails. I've never seen any BLU get a kill, with the possible exception of the Soldier in Meet the Spy.
Meet the Spy is a great display of what I mean, by the way. I mean, seriously, the Soldier hears that there's a spy in the base, and he doesn't even bother checking the Scout standing in front of the door. Then he proceeds to enter the password... Which he forgot. The Heavy proceeds to charge the door, knocking it apart.
Your point about the war being over if BLU constantly lost is invalid, since by that logic I could point out that the RED team constantly having regained the same territory after losing it to the BLU team without attacking makes as little sense. There's a reason that in any game mode where there's a defensive and offensive mode, RED is on defensive.
I don't know. V_V; If he/she is, I apologize.

Smissmass Comic (Scout and Soldier fight against a powerful supernatural being, Spy comes up with an efficient plan on the spot to defeat him and regain their freedom) and Loose Cannon (no fights, but the BLU Engineer gives a definite impression of competence).
In Meet The Spy, it's implied that the BLU Team is not yet familiar with the RED Spy (they have to be told that he is a shapeshifter), so the fact that Soldier failed to spy-check the Scout means nothing. The Meet The Team videos in general seem to take place pretty early in the timeline (for example, in Meet The Medic he has just invented the Ubercharge, and is using the prototype for the Medigun).
How do you know the REDs never attack to regain the lost territories? The Gameplay/Story Segregation trope makes the most sense here. It's the same reason you can't hurt your teammates in the game, but BLU Soldier could kill the BLU Spy in Meet The Spy: the gameplay has to enforce clear rules to let the gamers have fun even if those rules don't apply to the story.
In this case, gameplay-wise BLU always attacks and RED always defends, so that the players can immediately pick the objective they prefer. But the backstory clearly states that the two teams keep fighting over the same territories again and again, therefore story-wise none of the teams actually gets to keep the conquered territories.
