Here he is! I finally found a good camera! @_@This is my 3'X5' oil painting of Zarbon...he hangs over my bed since there is nowhere else big enough to put him.
He was done in about 2weeks in my oil painting class last year.
I feel that anime doesn't have to be done in anime style. Its okay to open up to traditional non-digital media and portraiture once in awile. It enables one to see a character in an entirely different light.
Why the name? *shrugs* It suits him.

Dat class. He's so distinguished! I love your use of different shades to use as shadow. Some don't think to do that.

Woah, that is completely awesome. He looks so real, like I should look for him in a boardroom or something. (dear lord, Zarbon as a CEO of some major company. Yikes!)
And I agree, anime characters don't have to STAY anime. One of my favorite things to do is sit around with a sketch pad and try to change the style of all my favorite characters. lol, my Zarbon actually because the basic design for my own little demon, Leopold the Magnificent. ^__^
Anywho, awesome! and what a great pic to have in your room, too. Brilliant...

I really agree with you there - anime characters are still /characters/, their personality can be portrayed very well in other forms than, say, chibi.
I love the toned down colouring on his clothing, it makes his skintone all at once seem more shocking and more realistic. Or at least plausible.
Very nice work, I envy people who can work in oils!
