My poor purples! I may be able to get one more purple pony in before I need to restock.

Wow. This is so beautiful! It's so smooth. I actually thought it was done digitally until I read the description. What kind of paper did you use and how did you shade it so well?

Colored pencils have always been my favorite medium to use. I'm actually really lucky that some of the people in my family were artists who passed down their supplies to me. My mom has many Prismacolor pencils and I get to have all the ones she has two or more of. I think she got them from my great grandmother. I'm still trying to learn how to use them and am not very good at it yet. I've found a lot of tips and tricks like laying down many layers. I also have a colorless blender for shading and its a Prismacolor too. I think the main reason why my shading doesn't end up the way I want it is because of the paper I use. I have a big sketchbook which is just for drawing with pencil. I also have a small multi-medium one but only have a few pages left of it. What I usually color on it printer paper which doesn't work at all with colored pencils. A lot of the kinds of papers that I've heard work well with them are kind of expensive. I don't know if it's just the people are professional artists and only really use the high quality stuff or if it's that that kind of paper is more pricey in general. Do you know any kinds of papers sold on amazon or someplace like Hobby Lobby that work well with colored pencils and are affordable? Also, thanks for letting me know how you make your art . It's really helpful to someone who wants to get into art but knows nothing about it. (that someone being me XP)

The brand of the multi-medium one that I use is called Canson. It's one that I get from middle school art that still had quite a few pages left in it. I haven't done any art classes in high school yet, expect ceramics, but I plan on doing one next year. I'm trying to get all the credits for computer lit and P.E. and such first to get them out of the way before the fun stuff.
It would be nice to have some toned paper to work with as I usually don't do full pictures anyways so when I upload my art with a white background to Deviant Art, it looks boring. It would help add some flair to my work. Also, it would be easier to work on and shade with. I looked up the kind you use and they don't look all that expensive. I'll check at places near me to see if I can find them. If not, I can still just get one from amazon. They sound perfect for me. They aren't all that pricey and I can use them for more than just colored pencil.
