Hawke, his companions, and Merrill the Dalish Elf Mage continue up Sundermount until they came across by a magical barrier that blocked the way forward. And then they learned the reason why everyone in her Clan, doesn't like her anymore, Merrill is Blood Mage and she remove magical barrier with Blood Magic. (And from what I learned from Dragon Age, Blood Magic is one of the few things that both Humans and Dalish Elves agreed with, it shouldn't be used.)Dragon Age II © BioWare and Electronic Arts
