Description I envision their first touch woulda been something like this. Set after the infamous pool scene in X-Men #3, when Rogue and Gambit first truly interacted (he complimented her on a fine, "Olympic class cannonball" into the pool when they were brainwashed into serving Magneto and hanging out on his secret orbiting space base, and she responded by freaking out and throwing him off balance when he tried to offer her a hand out of the water). Revenge is a dish best served wet? Lol.

I needed practice drawing awkward positions (SO many funny selfies on my phone because of this!), practice inking and just practice in general. Plus I've always wanted to draw long-haired 90's Gambit Sketched in ProCreate, words and panels done with sketchbook pro (thanks again to Blambot comic fonts, y'all are fantastic!). I don't even wanna admit how long this took...let's just say a few months and leave it at that. I'm not happy with how...all over the place...this is. I'm trying to teach myself to be more refined, but learning how to tone it down and simplify my style is proving to be surprisingly difficult.

*minor edit: it's been pointed out to me that Gambit is sexually harassing Rogue. While yes, that's true, and no, fellas, this is NOT how you should approach a woman that you're interested in, Gambit is well known for being respectful towards women. He adores them. Rogue...well, her haughty attitude hid a lonely soul. Even though Remy tried being a gentleman at first, her sassy and flippant mannerisms brought out an equally obnoxious response in him. He only ever overstepped his boundaries once, in X-Men #4- and she promptly clobbered him.

Edit again: A certain upcoming Marvel writer commented that she thinks of Gambit as "skeezy", and the type to give dubious massages. I completely disagree. In light of that, I changed the wording so he comes across more as sarcastically suggestive, because I have zero intention of encouraging such an inaccurate portrayal of one of my heroes!

Gambit/Remy LeBeau and Rogue/AnnaMarie belong to Marvel.

Skeezy ? Since when ? Gambit can be murderous when he is genuinely pissed but he has always been respectful of the ladies ! It's just another case of people judging what they don't know...

So many writers nowadays portray Gambit as a womanizing creep. I've never seen him that way, but at the time I posted this, G. Willow Wilson had just given him a cameo appearance in the mainstream X-Men book. He was trying, in a completely sleazy way, to seduce two girls with incredibly lame pick up lines. It was very out of character.

See, this is why morons should never be allowed to handle these characters devilkais.deviantart.com/art/B… . Only writers that have the proper respect AND ambition to evolve them should do that.

I'm never on DA anymore... But I will always pop along just to view your awesome work! So glad to see your little 'behind-the-scenes' short! And I totally agree with your take on Gambit's character.  He always knows there's a line never to cross. x

Unless, of course, the chick he's into insults him by insinuating that he cheated at basketball... Apparently then he has no problem crossing lines

OKAY. This is brilliant.

That's so typically Rogue. And so Gambit. I can't.

This page made my morning. So, thankyou. <3

first of all, let me say that your long-haired Remy is one of the best Remy I have ever seen usually I don't like him with long hair, but your Remy is very well done and I love this short comic too
however, according to me, Gambit had always been a gentleman with women. And with Rogue too. He's never harrassed her. He has always respected her. Even when she was mad at him when she was blind, he has never disrespected her.

Thanks I had a total trip back to my childhood while creating this (I was blasting 80's hair metal and 90's grunge while working on it, to keep in the mood)

Your Remy is hawt! Just had to say that and this is so awesome. And as someone who considers herself a feminist, I never felt Gambit ever sexually harassed Rogue. I see some pretty horrible objectification of women in society and media but this relationship never came off that way to me. If his advances were really unwelcome, Rogue was confident enough (at least before certain writers got a hold of her) to let him know. Re: your example of X-Men #4 Again, this is amazing, thanks for sharing it with us.

This is a great idea. Do you think you're going to do more scenes like this that take place after cannon action? If you are I suggest a scene between the basketball game and the date in X-Men #4. I've always wondered how they went from one to the other.
