With a 5.6 meter wingspan and a torso being a size of a fully grown human, the giant daymon bat, or simply the daymon, is the world's largest flying animal. It is distributed throughout most of the Old World, where it occupies a niche similar to condors of the New World. Evolved from a lineage unique among pteropodiform bats, the daymon is exclusively airborne and only hunts flying animals smaller than itself, such as ducks, migrating geese, doves, parrots and other small birds. The daymon is indeed diurnal unlike most bats, but because it almost never touches the ground at the risk of damaging its wings, how it either sleeps or also dwells during the night remains an ongoing mystery to scientists. Although researchers have examined the creature, its entire lifestyle in the wild is still rarely studied.
