@_@ Wow. I Β think your artwork has climbed some stairs! This background is huge, with so many details, curves and folds. This must have taken some time, because the shading is everywhere, and in all the right places. It's so rich and dark near the bottom, getting lighter at the top, suggesting she's looking upwards from the bottom of a hill. Her expression seems to suggest she's looking at the climb she's in for. Daunted, but determined to go on. And again brown/chocolate and cream really goes with Rose. It was practically made for her! I love the wind in her hair. You don't get to see her hair waving like that, and it's quite glorious. Seriously beautiful work, Spectral!

Thank you so much!
This one took quite some time to pull together. Between a few interruptions due to hospital stays and with finals to complete, I had to constantly put it on and take it off the proverbial back burner. But I am really glad you like it and I am happy with how it came out as a whole. ^w^ Rose is always so fun to draw, and I love the challenge that shading her hair and clothing provides.Β
The background itself was an attempt with atmospheric perspective but also me wanting to try my hand at doing so through sfumato. The blurriness really helps to add depth.Β

Basically working without harsh outlines in a background. Da Vinci used it a lot in his work. It is a blurring of the background into almost a hazy representation. It makes for a more realistic depiction of light and color.Β
