Description For a while now I've been trying to draw original stuff. I've been trying to break out of my shell.

But now I've realized that I should do more traditional work. This shell isn't something that I should try to escape. It's my comfort zone. My happy place. Whenever I feel lonely or stressed, drawing calms me.

If you are good at something, keep doing it; it's good to get out of the comfort zone to try something new but we all have something in which we specialize.
dont forget Michael Jordan's baseball career.

Seriously your work looks like it's straight from the games. This could be right out of Smash Bros with Falco shooting his lazer

This picture is SWEET! Listen, I'm putting together a guide on playing Falco in SSBB. I would love to use this as my opening image. I didn't want to just steal it, so I thought I would ask. I will definitely give you credit, and a link to your deviant art page. Please let me know. I'll be back to check the comments. But my Email address is MattKeenum@hotmail.com

As always I love how you go beyond the left-to-right shading and actually make it seem as if it's a picture off a black and white gradient.

Your emphasis on detail, and the very clean way in which you portray it, adds a whole lot to your drawings.

As for breaking out of a shell, it's no easy route, I find it hard to beak out of my own, but like you say, it's more of a comfort zone. Being in a supposedly advanced class due to your superb shading will make your first attempts at something of your own feel like you must go for utter perfection, and it'll distract you from trying to do the basics first. <

I've actually signed up for the intermediate drawing class at school. I've seen crazy good stuff on display in the art department, so I decided I'd play it safe in case the advanced class is too difficult. I've kind of got mixed feelings about taking another drawing class, though. The last one I took was kind of boring. Metal clips, for example- we spent weeks drawing metal clips. Every angle, every size, even had to draw abstract versions. Just this completely random everyday object... drove me nuts

Man, I wish I was in school just for the art classes, it's awesome getting A's from something you actually like to do, and you get to show off

But what I meant by class is the probably way that people see you as an artist , like for instance, you're not some kid that's playing around with a pen and uploading stupid sketches.

On the advanced class, of course it'll be difficult, but probably because of the amount of work, and the high quality of artists you'll be competing with, not because your technique isn't good, or you can't improve

I had to do a lot of things i didn't like in art class, but remember, they're letting you explore on things you would have otherwise ignored. Believe it or not, clay modeling and oil pastels made a big impact on my recent work. I learned a lot from those stupid masks we had to do. Still though, I can only imagine how dull it is to draw certain objects over and over, fingers get bored and tired too ya know >=/

To clear my mind, sometimes I used to deviate from what I had to do, and work on a different medium, or just go watch some TV, drink a few Coronas and forget about art for a while
