good, mostly. the flames seem a little too detailed against the styling of the characters but I love the look of them. How did you do that? was it a toon shader or something? I'm a bit of a 3d noob I'm afraid.

The flames are something I'm still wrestling with (as you can see from recent pictures). I guess I could render them separately and do some proper compositing. I've been trying to do it all live in one scene...

The toon shader comes from DAZ Studio and its pwToon shader plug-in. I like it very much. It's pretty flexible and offers lots of good looks. It basically reinterprets the "realistic" textures as cartoon ones. I kind of prefer a toon look. For one thing, it takes a tremendous amount of work to get something to look realistic and I just don't have that sort of attention span. For another, I was raised on lots of animation and this is my attempt at getting to that.
