The coloring really brings out the character and mood. She’s warmer and more knowing. It’s interesting how pencils and color can come together to give a work a complete life.
My favorite parts are:
• The shadow on the handle next to her right hand.
• The wall texture.
• The Sheen of the helmet
The muted colors of her right knee may have lost some of the perspective and shadow which where in the original work.
I don’t think the space suite would work very well if her cleavage where exposed to the vacuum of space, I guess she unzipped the front when she took off the helmet and gloves to be more comfortable and to make a bigger entrance.

I’m trying to imagine different options you had as a colorist. The knee pads and lines on the suite could have been more divergent colors from the body and this could have been in line with the big space age future Kerong mentioned in the comment. I can’t really say it would be an improvement and since the piece works I wouldn’t change it.

There is a lot to this work aside from color. For one the pencil lines in the shadows and interior of the ship. Personally I don’t think they add to the beauty. Overall you’ve done a very professional job coloring this work.

You're quite welcome. Can you recommended a place I could learn more about making sequential art, particularly coloring?
I'm a software developer in Southern California. I've got some money saved up and I really want to make a comic with it. I've been reading books such as Scott McCloud's "Making Comics" and learning what I can from a comic creator's meet-up. I have a story that I think would be really fun to tell, so I guess that makes me the writer, also it's my money so I suppose that also makes me the general artistic director. I want to know how to be good at these jobs and be worthy of the talents others would lend me.
It seems that comics can be made many different ways. On one level spiting it into as many jobs as possible is simply necessary to make a quality product on a tight schedule. From another perspective it seems the writer has the basic vision, the penciler gives form to that thought and the colorist is really the one with the biggest opportunity to give the work the extra polishing it needs to stand out. how do you see the Colorist's roll?

Well first I wish you the best on your comic! Its a tough gig trying to create a full comic. My suggestion would be to go on deviantArt and try to get someone to draw 5 pages or so, or even just a page or two for test (same w inker, and colorist). Then try to scout out a publisher for the comic (also tough). Its possible to do your own comic, I worked with a group on my first comic similar to one person trying to be a one man comic publisher. Its a lot of leg work and research and marketing, and artists can be lazy, or untimely with deadlines. Theres alot of people who would love to be part of a comic start up! who knows, your idea might be great and will sell!

As far as coloring goes, I love it! I feel that coloring like illustrating is a dime a dozen, but those that are really good stand out, and some just need more time. Myself Ive been doing it only 3 years, and still need to practice/work more! I got a couple things going on, and hope to get picked up soon by a bigger publisher, but still need work.
Also I feel that in the industry, colorists dont get as much recognition because soo much work is just cookie cutter. I hope that I can have my style or several styles and be marketable. I think colorist give life, and mood to a piece, and comics arent the same in B&W. I admire those who do what they do so well!

best of luck to you!

Thanks bud!
Yeah I think your right about the knee pads, I think I missed the mark in that area. I also kinda got the lighting wrong on her left knee (our right).
Really appreciate the crit and the pro comment!
Thanks!
