I love Ivan Reis' artwork too. The guy is fantastic.
Love the drawing! Great pic of my second favourite DC hero and Hal Jordan! Really great job.

Ivan Reis is one of the new pencillers whose graphics are always dependable, competent and exciting!
Your pencils too are tight and very reminiscent of some other great artists whose influence affects us all whether we know it or not.
Excellent job. I, unlike one of the above commenters, really like what you've done with the leg muscles. I would love to see this inked by a stalwart such as Palmer or Austin or perhaps even Sienkiewicz.

Well, better than Countdown for sure, but that isn't saying much! That's like saying "Well, Elektra was a better movie than Catwoman, so..." I mean, of COURSE it was, but comparing something to utter garbage isn't really a high standard! There are definitely elements of SC that I like, but overall I just don't care for Geoff Johns' characterizations. I enjoy the Green Lantern Corps book, like, twenty times more than the Green Lantern book.
But like I said, you did a knockout picture, so way to go!

i notice that your 90s influences go beyond the heavily detailed muscles, and pass into the dynamic poses that are men being super macho and full page spashes.

it depends on what you want your art to be. cinematic or dynamic. to mix them both is very difficult. Jim Lee: Dynamic. Steve McNiven: Cinematic.
i notice that the more cinematic artists use wider panels, and can sometimes have whole pages of only full-page-width panels.
dynamic artist have more splashes, and crazy lines every where, with explosions and there muscle highly detailed and full of veins.
its all upto you.

yeah man.
I couldn't believe it about Mike. I was planning on meeting up with him in Baltimore this year. We've talked briefly on line a couple of times and I really wanted to make a in person connection.
It just sucks.
