Description Wasn't too awful sure about the category for this bugger, as this is my first time posting a tutorial.

AT ANY RATE! You should find this to be a primarily unhelpful tutorial on the creation of a comic strip, as per request from This is honestly most of my thought process when creating a strip, dirigible included.

Soon now I'll be submitting a much more useful tutorial, on how to color these comics and other drawings once you've already got them on the computer, but I have to go mow the lawn now.

Happy comic-ing!

My Golly, that was was funny.

Gee-willikers!!!

roflmao... er... Ha ha!!!

There's a reason I don't talk text. One, I don't own a cellular Dee-vice. Two, just... no. No, I refuse to demean myself in such a blunder. I swear it is worse than slang.

I sound like an angry Grandmama... 0.o

Wait... Yes, yes I will.

Entertaining, simple, and to the point. A little focus on technique, but mostly on how to lay it out, which is good (because people obviously have lots of different comic drawing styles!).

yeah, especially the creepy lady at our school libraries who, like, watches over your shoulder and screams "ARE YOU DOWNLOADING SOMETHING YOU SHOULDN'T BE?!?!?!" over your shoulder when you stick you flashdrive into the computer...

Yeah... but kids at my school used to do things like that all the time, so I really can't blame them for being a little paranoid.

Very cute tutorial! ~Thorvold and I are collaborating on a strip, and my concern was in drawing every frame separatley, then using some sorta program to arrange them - making it look all nice and neat - but 'The Lazy Man's Comic' seems to work fabulously for you. Maybe it will for me as well

Thanks a bundle, and I anticipate the rest of your fabulously comedic tutorial!!

Spiderwriter In reply to MoonlitLust [2008-08-30 01:15:25 +0000 UTC]

I actually draw my comics as they appear on my page, and only scan them in to erase blemishes and the like, but photoshop is great if you've drawn an unusually large or long strip that took multiple pieces of paper, because then you can crop the images and arrange them as necessary. I'm sure there are templates and the like floating around out there of pre-arranged panels, but I prefer the flexibility of being able to draw my own, and I also like the textural feel of the hand-drawn lines.

I hope to have the coloring tutorial up in another few days, maybe sooner, but I have to go visit my grandparents tomorrow, so it may be a liiiittle longer...
