The effect of practicing dark magic by a vengeful shaman from southern Africa. Small body, great determination.

In order to gain absolute control over the doings of an artificially animated creature called “Tikoloshe”, one must pierce the center of its forehead with a red hot metal rod while reciting a specific set of spells.

A certain inexperienced dark arts enthusiast once made the mistake of whispering the spells to himself first right before finishing working on his masterpiece. At that moment, his alleged revenge tool suddenly woke up, after which, greatly confused by its surroundings, it jumped right out of an open window, narrowly escaping the shocked man that was trying to catch it while carefully handling a hot iron poker.

Seeing and hearing the terror of people observing it run across the back streets of the town, Tikoloshe hurriedly grabbed from a freestanding stall a pair of decorated, dark glasses, a slightly oversized hat, and the outfit of a large, traditionally crafted doll. All of that allowed him to hide his hideous body from the eyes of strangers.

Despite spending a mere hour among the living, he subconsciously knew where he was, and more or less how the world around him worked, as if he used to be a part of it at some point in the past. When he discovered that he’s perfectly capable of speech, he began attempting to converse with strangers, trying to learn a bit more about practically everything that surrounded him. One old man recommended him paying a visit to the local library. That was where Tiko spent the following few days, tirelessly studying dozens of tomes, one after another.

He learned a lot about dark magic, deities and daemons, the realms of the living and the dead, as well as his own self. Despite that, he still lacked one important thing: a true reason to exist.

Once the night came, he left the city, trying to forget the shameful nature of the beginning of his new life, and started a journey to discover the world on his own, while hopefully giving his own existence a meaning.
