Normally I wouldn't upload portfolio work, however given that I'm pretty proud of this one, I couldn't wait to show it off ^.^This is the castle of Falloway, the kingdom of the deer and the main locale in the capital city. Made from the nearby redwood trees, the finest masonry and powerful magic, the castle is big to say the least. This particular shot is from the inner front courtyard, an area that is very frequently decorated for ambassadors and is what most see when they first enter the castle.
The piece itself is Copic Markers on marker paper, it took about 15 hours to work on and has some minor digital editing to help with composition and focus. Personally I've found that copic markers are probably my favorite traditional medium, there's a lot of control that I just can't quite get with acrylics or watercolor, and there's a nice texture if you blend it right.

I love how the piece is traditionally drawn, but you used digital image-editing to affect the lighting and focus, giving it more of the feel you're aiming for without the risk of messing it up with the wrong color markers. Very creative!

I'd love to use copic markers myself, but have heard they're pretty dang expensive. How long do they last?

The markers themselves last for a pretty long time, and depending on what brand you can use ink refills. If you want brand-name copic markers, then you're probably looking at a good $170 for a full set
