Description
Piece done in art class in 11th grade. The assignment was to pick a color scheme and create a rocky landscape, paying attention to negative space between the rocks. I chose primary colors because they're very fun to work with in watercolor.No refference used.

I can't really remember what specifically I did on this piece, but I think I may have used plastic wrap to get the effect of the rock cracks? And then painted some of them in with more concentrated paint once the first layer dried.

You know what this reminds me of? There was a book I read when I was a kid about a little mouse who had to find a magic pebble to turn its wind-up mouse friend real. The illustrations were paper cut-out and watercolor... I think the book was called Tillie and the Pebble or something. Anyway, there was a scene with a multicolor lizard that very much had the feeling of this painting. 
Very nice use of color and negative space. You should post more watercolors.
