Sorry for the very delayed reply! I have actually moved to a new account: and don't check my messages on this one anymore.
I can't really remember what specifically I did on this piece, but I think I may have used plastic wrap to get the effect of the rock cracks? And then painted some of them in with more concentrated paint once the first layer dried.
