Description Hey look, I finally got around to uploading these. It only took like, two months ><
Well, I finished the artwork a couple months ago, but didn't get around to finishing with the written stuff until a of couple days ago. So yeah, here it is, took me long enough ><
No fancy sheet like I did with Strife, Xephos and Nilesy, I just want to get these out the way and can't be asked to pull something together >< Sorry

But yeah, anyway, for the first time in a long time:

Headcannon Time!!

Ridgedog is a demigod who was spawned centuries ago. He started his life alone, knowing only his name and a few things about what he was and where he was. It wasn't long before he was found by other divines though and he quickly made a name for himself as being an incredibly powerful stallion who ventured much further into magic than a Young One* should.

He was very different back then though, he didn't use this ability for his own gain, quite the opposite, he wanted to help ponies, restore the dwindling faith the mortals had in the divines. And for a while, he was successful, he befriended villages full of mortal ponies, helping out when necessary, and never hurting anyone.

This lasted a while, but not as long as he would have liked. Many of the Older Ones** didn't like him interacting so much with mortals, demigods were supposed to do their work from afar, not from within the village walls whilst knowing everyponies name. And eventually, they asked him to stop. But he didn't. He wouldn't, he flat-out refused. And this only frustrated the Older Ones even more.

This continued for some time, before the Older Ones had finally had enough of his disobedience. Forbidding him from venturing into the Overworlder villages, and making sure he knew that there would be consequences if he continued to disobey his elders.

This event was what caused the still young alicorns personality to begin to alter, his devious and sneaky nature began to settle in as he frequently went against the Older One's wishes.

He managed to do this for over a decade before he was eventually caught, and disobedience was not appreciated in the slightest, especially when it had been going on for over a century. And so, he was punished. Trapped in the Aether for years. Disinclined for helping ponies.

His punishment would have no doubt lasted longer, if the unrest within the Aether had not reached its peak. A fight broke out, a fight that lead to a battle, that lead to a war. A war between the Gods of Minecraftia.

And war can change a pony. And not always for the better.

It wasn't until after the war that he figured out why everyone started fighting, all he cared about at the beginning was that during the resulting conflict, his bounds were broken, he was free. Most would have picked a side and fought for their cause, for their race, for their home. But Ridgedog didn't. Nope. He ran. He fled to the Overworld, hoping he wouldn't be found again until everything had calmed down. He didn't want to fight. Not out of cowardice, he simply didn't care about the divines anymore. He just wanted to be himself, not what the others thought he should be.

But he didn't feel quite the same as he had done before. Something inside of him had changed. Not long after returning to the Overworld, he found a village that was being engulfed by flames. At first, he approached in order to help, but once he was perched on the village walls, watching the fire eat away at the wooden structures and their terrified and fleeing occupants, he found himself unable to. Older ponies in the village recognised him, they knew he could help, they begged him to save them and stop the fire. But he didn't. Whether he couldn't or wouldn't he wasn't sure. But he didn't. He merely watched as everything burnt. As everyone died. And he enjoyed it.

He spent several years hiding from the rest of his race, constantly moving across the Overworld, hoping that he wouldn't be found. He spent most of this time alone, very rarely going near settlements yet alone entering them.

The war in the Aether just kept getting worse though, to the point where it started to affect areas of the Overworld. Causing frequent thunderstorms and other destructive weather phenomena. He loved to watch the destruction that these natural disasters caused.

Eventually the other demigods located him, and they trapped him in a remarkably ungodly, and almost savage manner, cornering him with powerful spells and blocking any escape route he may think to use. Tying his wings down and blocking his magic. No amount of struggling would free him, and they literally dragged him back to the Aether.

The demigods that had captured him made sure he wouldn't try to escape again. Rebinding him to the Aether and forcing him into the battle field. He hadn't a clue whose side he was on or who or what he was fighting for. All he knew was that if he didn't risk his life and fight, the other demigods would probably kill him themselves.

So he fought. Upon the floating battlefield that the once beautiful Aether had become. He battled with a powerful sword in his grasp, incredible magic and strong wings, a tricky target and an even trickier opponent. But that didn't stop him from taking damage.

And quite severe damage at that.

Cuts and gashes all over him. Red blood soaking into his clothes, in his hair, in his eyes. Not all of it was his, but more and more of it was. But he didn't care. He barely felt it.

Shot down. Wings damaged, broken feathers. Not quite able to fly straight for a while. But still barely felt the pain. Even when blood was pouring out of him. He barely felt it.

One well aimed attack, top of his horn snaps, gold sparks everywhere. That does hurt. That really hurts. And it's wonderful. The pain of all that fighting, that war that he was thrown into, he revels in the pain. The adrenaline rush from fighting, from attacking others and being attacked, is exquisite. Almost pleasurably. And he loves it.

A demigod must find their place within society, find their spirit link with Minecraftia. And that's where Ridgedog found his. As his spirit finally locked into that of Destruction and Chaos.

The war eventually came to an end, when the enemy leader was killed. When he killed them. He'd found them, and slain them. Slow and painful, after all, alicorns do not die quickly. He barely escaped that place, the enemy troops tried to stop him from getting away, but failed. And he fled back to home base. Back to Notch.

By this point, he knew who he was fighting for, and vaguely why he was fighting, something to do with some of the demigods feeling as if the old ways were being threatened, and that things were changing in the wrong direction. They'd rebelled. Started fighting with those who were loyal to those at the very top, to the true-Gods. He had been located and captured because at the time, they were loosing ground and needed as many strong fighters as they could get their hooves on. Even if that meant searching the other dimensions for strays.

Once everything had been cleared up and rebuilt, he was given the chance to go back down to the Overworld, to do what he used to do. Though he didn't really know how long ago that was, years, maybe even decades had passed since the fighting broke out.

He did return to the Overworld. But not to help ponies. No no. Quite the opposite. Once his bounds were broken and he was free again, he returned to the Overworld to cause trouble and have fun, even if that meant hurting others in the process. The worst of his actions mellowed out over the years, but he was much more likely to cause chaos for the mortals than he was to help and befriend them. He barely returned to the Aether after the war ended.

----

Ridgedog is an eccentric yet immensely powerful stallion, and not someone you want to encounter whilst he's in a bad mood. His magical ability stretches far and wide, and powerful wings allow for fast and agile flight, though he can and does use his magic to assist from time to time. He's strong with a sword, and can shoot well with a bow, though he rarely uses the latter. He's incredibly intelligent, studying and practicing both magic and science almost non-stop since the war ended. He built BebopVox at some point, he'll say it was just an experiment that went very well, but in reality, building a robot was an attempt to fill the void the few mortals he bothered to get closer to left when they died. The little robot started off as a basic companion of sorts, but as the technology inside of him was improved, he became more of a friend to Ridge, than just a talkative machine.

He found Xephos' crashed ship and saved the alien from the wreckage a few years before coming into contact with the other Yogs, he didn't know then how big a part the alien and his rag-tag group of friends would play in his life. Going on many adventures, playing all sorts of games (many of which the others were not so keen on), and getting into various squabbles. As well as stopping them from destroying the planet on more than one occasion.

Whilst he can be a nice guy, he is renowned among those who know him for being a little on the unstable side, snapping very easily and jumping between charismatic and friendly to cruel and bloodthirsty. It's something his friends have learnt to get used to, but it can still come as a surprise and be both annoying and terrifying.

All the scars on his body that he shows are from the war in the Aether, any others he's gained over the years have been hidden with simple magic. He fixed the break in his horn, as it was making his magic glitch, but the rest are as they were when the war finally ended. He does this to remind himself of what happened, to stop himself from letting the memories fade, and to make sure he remembers that the demigods are not as pure and kind as they make themselves out to be, and that they can be just as cruel to one another as the mortals can be. Stops him from regretting the bad things he's done on the incredibly rare occasions when he does start to contemplate it.

* A young demigod, no more than a couple of centuries old.

** A much older demigod, one that has lived for over a thousand years.

I don't really have much else to say about this, other than that I've still got no idea quite how I managed to draw that pose on the top right, like, seriously, since when was I capable of poses like that (Back in December when that was sketched, apparently >< )

Oh yeah, and his eyes changed colour when his spirit link changed, which is why they were blue when he was young but are black in the present day. Oh and his cutie mark changed as well at some point, probably once he started living a more destructive life, that's why it's different in these pictures than it was in previous ones.

I know someone will ask, so the pictures go as follows
Young Ridge - Ridge during the war
Young Ridge - Ridge during the war - Present day Ridge.

I'm glad to finally have this finished, I have another piece to go with this that I'll try and finish as soon as possible. So yeah, that's fun.

I guess that's about it, I hope you like and please fav and comment

I only started reading to find out what your new picture meant.
And by the time I found out I wanted to read all of it. And I did.

I can really tell you love writing headcanons, so do I, but yours are much longer. And a little more straight forward (please don't ask)..

All I can really say is, wow. That was really well written and all of the details were laid out perfectly.
Wait, I'm talking too much about the story.

Of course I like the art, your magic effects are awesome, even if they're only minor.
Well, that's all I have to say.
Have a greedy Tubbs because I don't know a better way to end the comment:

Haha, I'm glad you enjoyed it

I do love writing headcannons, it's good fun and allows me to put my ideas into words, rather than leaving them to float around in my head

And I'm glad you like the art as well

No problem

My headcanons tend to just float around as ideas before I properly develop them. Still in my head, I never write them down. Not because I don't want to, because there's just so many details. And when I do, it turns into a story and I don't finish stories.

No problem, again
